Most tasters land in the same place: a genuinely lovely nose, a slightly letdown palate. The nail-polish-and-marzipan opening blows off into nuts, cocoa and caramel, and it's an easy, chocolatey summer sipper. But several found the body thin, and at 51% one or two even called it a touch hot. A clean 15-year column rum that charms on the nose more than the tongue.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement in evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Overall, compared to Bellamy's, somewhat less complex and the dilution to 51% doesn't seem so successful here. Tasty and very drinkable but overall not quite as full-bodied...

#4112 A surprisingly good rum considering the price tag. Lightly fruity with nice roaste/smoky notes and a warm palate. The finish is medium to long. Draws very thick slow moving curtains. The empty glass gives of some chocolate and more wood. After a few hours marzipan pops out of the empty glass.

This rum is also very tasty. I can taste a hint of chocolate here. This rum is also a little sweeter, but everything is still within reason, not as bad as with A. H. Riise :) A very successful rum.

Cross-tasting with seven bottlings from Royal Cane. Not bad at all. Somehow slightly diluted or watered down on the palate. Overall, however, none of the bottlings convinced me.

Interesting nose where I mostly like the nail polish / solvent with some marzipan and cocoa. On the palate rather uninteresting. Clean, but nothing special.

The nose is really pleasant and quite powerful. A nice caramel with a touch of ripe fruit and varnish. The palate is interesting with a nice woodiness and a touch of coconut. The finish is chocolaty. However, I find it a bit too diluted. The length on the palate is average. Its strong point remains the really intoxicating nose. Good rum!!!

So far I had never had a rum from Salvador in my glass. It's not bad in itself. The first nose was extremely marked by biting nail polish. After a while, that settles and the nutty notes prevail. In the mouth, it's very mild; I wouldn't necessarily say watered down, but a few more percent wouldn't have hurt it. It's a bit one-dimensional in my opinion, but still a good sipper for in between, unfortunately nothing more.
