In my opinion, HSE flies completely unfairly under the radar. The 2003 MEB RX391 is considered one of the most popular and best of its kind. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite convince me. Some vanilla, chocolate, and coconut, a bit grassy, vegetal and woody. All well balanced and with a good will, one could say it's elegant. But for me, it feels too watered down. The Chantan Comte is a different league. A great Agricole! And the Montaguere tops it even more! Fruity woody with a very complex palate play and an extremely long finish. Montaguere seems to have a good hand for Agricole.

Rather restrained nose. Some (young) wood, sugar cane and a pleasant spiciness. The palate then becomes much more powerful. Great harmony of wood, spice and freshness of the sugar cane. Creamy and complex. Alcohol very well integrated. Really great Agricole!

Lots of fruit on the nose, with a subtle sticky note in the background. Surprisingly floral, flowery and herbal on the palate, with citrus fruits, spices and some wood and menthol. The finish is relatively long.

Initially a very nice sweet fruity nose, but this fades relatively quickly, leaving subtle vanilla/woody notes. In contrast, the palate is surprisingly intense with a complex variety of aromas. These include vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, coffee, wood, yellow fruit and some grass...very tasty! The finish is almost typically Agricole with the dominant vegetal side (predominantly grassy) A very good Agricole

Another HSE with a very tempting nose! First a very reassuring vanilla, then a powerful wood, dried grape. Over time, fruity aromas appear, discreet at first (red fruits) then more present until an impression of overripe banana. The cane is there too. The attack on the palate is lively. The woodiness first invades the palate before much sweeter and fruitier notes take over: vanilla, sugar cane, caramel, fruits. It's very pleasant. A surprising cherry note lingers in the mouth. The finish brings leather notes that last a long time. Superb. I like this type of rum more and more. Edit: impression confirmed. Magnificent rum.

An elegant Agricole with a fruity, woody and chocolatey nose. Equally balanced on the palate with a long finish that leaves many barrel notes behind. Agricole markers like sugarcane and floral notes are always present. Very very good.

This special brut de fût cuvée shows remarkable intensity and finesse for its age. Dark and empyreumatic notes emerge on the nose (toast, tobacco, roasted hazelnuts, chocolate), intersecting with spices (cinnamon, vanilla) and fruits (raisins, red fruits) on a balanced, complex, and delightfully indulgent profile. The attack on the palate is intense but always elegant. It’s at the crossroads with wood, spices (cinnamon, vanilla, peppery notes), the indulgence of hazelnut and chocolate, leather, tannins, and toasted notes. Tropical fruits and sugarcane bring a welcome natural touch to this dark and captivating profile. While the alcohol is very well integrated, you can still feel there’s character in the juice. The finish lingers with a menthol freshness that comes from nowhere and perfumes the palate. The spices and hazelnut counterbalance this first impression before caramel, exotic fruits, and dried fruits round off the edges. A sophisticated, deep, and indulgent cuvée that ranks among the top at HSE.

This rum has all the qualities of a great AOC Martinique, with an elegance and a subtle finesse that make it an excellent rum.On the nose, a fine woody, a sweetness of roasted pineapple compote, a hint of vanilla, fruit in alcohol. In the mouth, we find the same aromas as in the nose with the cigar box and the leather which sign an old rum of almost 9 years of breeding. The finish is extremely long, on spices and the sweetness of ripe fruits.

Wow, it's excellent. The nose is very fruity, sometimes on red fruits, sometimes on lemon and banana. A waxed wood mixed with dark chocolate in the background. On the palate, the level doesn't drop, butter caramel, vanilla, tobacco add to the notes from the nose. The finish is long with a menthol side. I'm definitely a fan of this house.

The nose starts out with notes of apple and anise. This gets more vegetal and floral with tea and a hint of fennel. I also get some red fruit and tobacco. The taste brings less fruit and is more spicy and nutty. I specifically get wallnuts and allspice. The finish is minty and fresh with some grapefruit.
