Sip it neat — this is a dry, dark Port Mourant built for slow drinking, not mixing. Expect the classic PM licorice and burnt caramel, some white-fleshed fruit and a woody, faintly salty edge. Several tasters found it "surprisingly dark" for a 10-year-old, weak-uncolored PM, and easy to drink, though a few felt it runs young, flat, and a touch short on the finish.

Most helpful positive review
A rich and complex Guyanese rum with caramel, licorice, dried fruit and floral notes on the nose. The palate is bold and balanced, bringing black tea, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and a touch of salt. The medium-long finish is dry and woody, with cocoa, orange peel, tannins and roasted notes. Excellent depth and character.

2nd tasting: This PM definitely is too young for me and tastes a little flat in my opinion. Reducing my rating from 79 to 77.

For an uncolored 10 year old PM, this is surprisingly dark. There are 30 year olds with less color from the barrel. The nose is surprisingly soft and inviting for a young PM. Yes, a little rubber, a little salt, but all integrated into soft spices and pome fruit. The harmonious impression continues on the palate. Compared to the nose, the herbal aromas take up more space and the fruit is drier. The rum is generally very dry without developing too much astringency. The finish is rather unspectacular and quite hoppy and bitter. Despite all the harmony, the depth and complexity are somewhat lacking, but I've never tasted such an easy-drinking young PM before. Delicious.

After the superb longpond, discovery of the PM 10 years Continental of Barikenn. Classic Port Mourant profile but with a surprise, it's a Port Mourant with a bit of color. On the nose you can feel it, there is a nice touch of burnt caramel which comes in addition to the traditional white flesh fruits and the very present woody taste. In the end, certainly an excellent Port Mourant, especially considering its age and its price!

Surprisingly dark 10-year-old PM, soft nose with rubber, salt, spices and pome fruit. Dry on the palate, vegetal, some bitter woods on the finish. Very harmonious, but lacks a bit of depth. Easy to drink.

Very sweet, caramelized nose at first. A hint of salt. Then some citrus fruit. The impression of sweetness is not confirmed on the palate. A woody, bitter attack. Caramel again. Then a touch of coffee. Bitter, woody and spicy finish. Good length. Very nice. A very nice selection.

It's been a great year, probably one if the craziest one's ever 🥰 Met many new run friends both online and in person, travelled a lot Germany, Belgium, France and Sweden. Next year should be a bit more tranquil I hope, because I have a ton of samples 🙃 Nose Medium intense, fruits, light wood, pear, light banana, light caramel, cinnamon, faint smoke, light pencil shavings. Palate Oily, medium intense, light wood, light nutts, faint smoke, anise, light chocolate, light salty, spicy, faint tar, dried fruit. Finish Very long and warm, wood, spicy, faint tar, anise, light salty, dried fruit, light chocolate. Empty glass vanilla, light chocolate, light licorice, nutts, faint smoke.

If the nose is still classic PM, it loses on the palate...lightly spread with subtle sweetness and lots of spices! The finish is relatively short. This PM does not convince me

Got the sample from Rodolphe and have to agree with him: very dark (and roasty) for a 10 yo continental PM. The burnt caramel is delicious and the bitterness in the finish is very pleasant. Peach and PM sweetness are almost non-existent.

Very greedy nose of banana and chocolate. The fruit wins the battle after a few minutes of opening. On the palate, it's very gourmand, with pastry notes of chocolate, caramel, vanilla and coffee. A lovely entremet. Medium-long finish on spices, vanilla and caramel.

On the nose with a present freshness of tropical fruits and subtle hints of wood and spices as well as a slight lactic acid note. The palate is then quite powerful, the alcohol is somewhat more present than would have been expected at 51% - but the reduced strength is good for the rum, fortunately this impression does not intensify too much. Instead, tart notes of licorice, pepper and wood accompanied by mineral-salty hints come to the fore, complemented by reduced sweetness and again citrusy-sweet fruit notes, although these are much more restrained than on the nose. On the finish, it is primarily the aforementioned tart and bitter notes that linger, with the rest of the profile fading relatively quickly. If the fruity notes, which are still so present on the nose, had been given more space on the palate, a higher rating would have been possible here - as it is, I find the overall balance somewhat lacking. It's a shame - but it certainly shows the potential that can lie dormant even in young continental Demeraras.

Basically a nice and fruity 'Port Mourant', but especially in the somewhat tart-woody finish, the surprisingly strong caramel note somewhat brakes its complexity and persistence. The combination of slight bitterness and candied tropical fruit is quite pleasant though. Overall quite tasty!
