A rum brought back from Mauritius by a friend and according to him, the best rum tasted on site. A very agricole nose with tropical fruits, vanilla. A mouth marked by new wood, very elegant, with an impression of fruit alcohol. A very technical finish but without much emotion. A very well made rum, without flaws.

I tried it today at the distillery at Chamarel after a short tour. The distillery has a seasonal break now and will resume operation during the sugar cane harvest around August. The sugar cane is grown by the distillery, they use both green and red types. Distillery owns a column and a pot still. This one I tasted last. It's a blend of 2012 and 2014 vintages, aged for 8 years at the distillery. After all the sweet stuff this was really nice to have. For an Agricole rum I liked that the licorice and musty notes are not dominant. I didn't get the bottle though.
