Overripe pineapple and banana come out swinging, wrapped in glue, solvent and salt — full-throttle DOK ester funk at 65.6%. Underneath there's young wood, a little smoke and an olive-brine edge, and one bottling shows a peaty Islay-cask influence that not everyone here wanted. Neat it's hot and intense; a rest in the glass lets the roasted-wood and fruit notes settle.

Delicious, now we've arrived at Hampden. Lots of overripe tropical fruits, especially pineapple and banana again. Ester is also very noticeable, as well as the good old solvents :-).

8:On the nose, esters bump in our nosetrils, with solvents, glue, as tropical fruits are overripe, like pineapple, citrus, hints of red fruits.Definitely a molasses is vegetal, wood young. On aeration, the wood is roasted with nuts, pastry, spicy with a cinnamon, salty.The molasses is floral, grassy with hay, notes of peat are also there. 7,5:On the palate, the attack is intense, pungent with esters, glue, salt, spicy, peated, tropical fruits are overripe, with a help of red fruits in moments even rotten.The molasses helps with an olive.Rest is welcome, as we get a new wave of different notes like roasted wood with crunchy bread, citrus and banana. 7,6:The finish is short, dry, but balanced with esters, smoky wood, confectionery, vegetal and fruity... Edit:3.8.25, makes great RumCola😉

#5550 12.08.2025 Relaxing with some samples while watching a crime series on HBO. Nose Intense, fruity, light wood, overripe, light polish, glue, spice, floral, esters. Palate Intense, light wood, fruity, overripe, light citrus. Light floral, glue, light polish, esters, light nutts, faint smoke. Finish Medium long and warm, spicy, intense, light citrus, light smoke, esters, light floral. Empty glass Overripe fruits, smoke, light olive, cherry, light citrus. Needs to rest for a good while and the ABV could have been better integrated.

At the beginning typical high Ester Hampden. In the finish discreet, but still well perceptible then peaty notes. Not bad, but does not quite meet my taste.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that produces rum as well as alcohol for perfume. In all the rums from this distillery you will taste wild esters, after which your whole organism will soak up the smell of golden tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the "must try before you die" rums

On the nose the Islay cask takes out some of the liveliness. On the taste it even takes over too much. This combination of DOK and Islay does not work for me. It is too hot due to the ABV and the age, and the finish is not adding something. It turns it into something like a mezcal. Not a bad mezcal at all, but a mezcal is no Hampden…
