Edit: After I got another sample, I tried it again in peace and gave it some time to develop. It's a really tasty piece. At first I find it quite acrid in the mouth. But in the aftertaste it is all the milder and lingers for a long time.

Good but not outstanding. Given the price and age, I expected more. Apart from that, green fruits dominate the nose and palate. Followed by tea. The finish is spicier and earthier. Slightly nutty.

Vertical PM tasting: 89 / 95 /97 / 97 (cognac finish) / 02 / 05 / 13 First impression on the nose: Potting soil - very intense. Turns into more of a smokey sensation which is interesting in combination with the anise. Palate: High complexity with PM markers and fruits as well as roasted and chocolate notes. Very good.

I think Uitvlugt and I won't really be friends anymore :-( But this one is quite okay. Also very musty, but within limits. You really can't complain for the price. Recommended ;-)

#6864 30.05.2026 Relaxing with some samples after bike training. Watching Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet, which I really like a lot. This is a really nice bottling and the price tag at release was pretty good. An intense rum with nice molasses, some sugarcane, spice, fruits, caramel, chocolate, roasted wood and a touch of smoke.

Compared to Rum Sponge No. 22, it's wetter on the nose and palate. Overall, I like it a little better, even if the finish is a little too short. The alcohol is also much better integrated here.

A very pretty selection, rich and intense. The nose is dense, full of spices (vanilla, licorice, pepper, cloves). The profile is dry, elegant and full-bodied. Wood and leather are also present, accompanied by earthy, vegetal notes of tea and pencil shavings. However, the nose reveals fruity, gourmet aromas of plum, peach and prune, which is rather unexpected and welcome. The attack on the palate is lively and intense, concentrated on spices such as aniseed, licorice, pepper and vanilla. Wood, pencil shavings, leather and roasted aromas become fuller-bodied. Thyme and tea perfume the palate with rare elegance. The profile also develops refreshing apple and peach notes. The rum is powerful, yet highly structured and refined. The alcohol is a little warm at first, but later becomes more supple, leaving a beautiful imprint on the palate. The finish is long, imbued with tobacco, leather, smoky and spicy notes. Herbaceous, bitter and dry notes are not unpleasant in the background. It's a pity that the fruit is practically obliterated, as it gave the profile that little something extra. Nonetheless, this is a remarkable rum, sophisticated and complex as it should be, especially after long aeration.

Beautiful 1995 PM. I like the very pronounced black tea note. Also fruit, light roasted notes, some wood and licorice root. Overall well balanced. The alcohol is very well integrated. Unfortunately a bit expensive in terms of price

Very nice continental PM. Sweetness, fruit, the typical maritime "wood in salt water" note, all nicely balanced. Not a complexity monster, but very nicely structured. Well-integrated alcohol.
