Bar 1802 Barbancourt
Smoke and peat lead here, more than the cane. This 15-year Haitian agricole from Barbancourt, bottled by Bar 1802, spent time in a peated whisky cask and it shows: caramel and wood on the nose, then a heavy smoky, medicinal palate one taster said could pass for whisky. Wood, spice and vanilla run through a medium finish. Polarizing — the peat divides people.

How does Bar 1802 Barbancourt taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Peated, smoky agricole that drinks like whisky Split reactions. Fans of Islay whisky find the smoky, peaty character interesting, but several felt the peated cask buried the underlying agricole and made it drink like whisky.

Not what I expected for a rhum agricole. It hits you with a lot of caramel and wood on nose with both being carried into the palate. The impact of the age is very evident on this rum with wood and spice throughout. The finish is medium with wood, spice, and vanilla

Very dominant whisky notes on the nose, which initially steal the show from the rum profile. The longer it remains in the glass, the more the original distillate comes to the fore. A similar picture on the palate, the peated whisky is very dominant. Q

The nose is too smoky for my liking. The palate is also too smoky and too turned. Probably for an Islay lover.

It's a pity that the peated whisky cask marked it too much. The impression of drinking a whisky with a smoky taste.
