A tick better than the KFM of the Flensburg Rum Company (RX7441), aged 2 years shorter. A little fruitier, a little oilier, a little stronger (but also higher ABV). There aren't many '91 KFMs, but they're just almost universally high quality, though by no means inexpensive. Thanks to Dom for the sample.

Overall a very elegant and full bodied rum from Guyana, bottled by Tamosi, that I got a sample of from RumX. The nose is fruity, woody, elegant and burnt. At the palate is flavors of oak, fruits. leather, mint and smoke recognizable. The flavors hangs on for a long time after it’s swallowed.

04.05.2024 Retasting during a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe. I stick to my score and I still love it. -------------------------- I got this sample on Friday and decided to save it for today, which for me is really hard when there's a chance of a great experience. The bottle is not cheap but worth every penny. From pouring the sample into the glass you get tho most wonderful flavours and as it matures in the glass it only gets better. The wood is heavy on this one and the roasted notes are also very present, but it's really well integrated with the other elements and so is the ABV. An intense and very well balanced release with a wonderful oily texture on the palate. The curtains in the glass are awesome! Unfortunately I used my budget for the rest of the year and January as well so I hope a bottle will still be awailable when my wallet is ready 😊 Empty glass has tar and chocolate.

RumX Awards 2023. Heavy, dark flavors with old cask and young wood. Plenty of old leather, but also pineapple, orange zest, beeswax and a light encaustic. A hint of vegetal balances the whole. The palate is very smooth and also very marked by old wood. The fruit comes through on the finish, carried by a discreet freshness. The finish is rather fresh and fruity, which is surprising for such a dark rum with a nose so marked by wood in the first taste. Unfortunately, a slight impression of dilution detracts from this otherwise splendid rum.

Great nose. Caramel, spice, a hint of tropical fruit. Rubber and tar. Powerful, warm and balanced. Very spicy in the mouth, here it seems a little watered down Super finish. Caramel, spicy and a hint of dried fruit. The sample comes from Oliver's RumX Best of 23 set, thank you very much for the great sample! But somehow, I can't help but think it's a Caroni on the nose.😂😂😂

My first impression on the nose was, could also be Caroni. Gradually develop dan. Also herbs, wood, leather and caramel. On the palate then a very nice intensity of wood, herbs in counterpart to the caramel, mint and something floral (violets?). The finish is long and very rich! Top KFM

I've wanted to try this KFM for a long time. So far, Bellamy's was my favorite of the 1991 vintage, but I've heard a lot of good things about this bottling. Overall, it seems very fresh to me in comparison. A direct comparison is still pending, but it really is very tasty

Oh wow, another super cracker in the glass, thanks again to RumTaTa for the split and the old glass. Nice saddle, leather notes on the nose and palate with a pleasant wood/barrel influence with a little mint. Very well integrated alcohol and nice drapes in the glass. Was afraid it would be too woody, for me it fits great.

Another 91 KFM Enmore today. After RA, Flens, Bellamys and Nobilis had already impressed, it was clear that the Tamosi would not be left behind. And indeed, it knows how to impress on the nose with leather, tobacco, prunes, herbs, old barrels and caramel. I also detect a slight menthol note here, as with the RA. On the palate, tobacco, nutmeg, herbs, old cask, black tea and a slight bitter note on the finish. The Tamosi ranks right up there with the 91 KFM Enmores!

Wood fire, spices, caramel, eucalyptus, liquorice, woody, light varnish... superb! Palate: pineapple, gum, tar, heavy, herbaceous but quite thick and silky. Ultra-complex. Finish: oily, minty, herbaceous... Crazy stuff! I'm just floored.

The Tamosi Enmore 1991. This Guyana must be the oldest rum I've ever tasted so far with its 31 years of aging. It's still strong at 52.6°. Just the color alone tells you you're dealing with an old-timer, with its deep brown shade. The nose is a punch. Crazy darkness, espresso, cappuccino, leather, roasted cocoa, it veers towards sun-heated tarred roads. The petrol and smoky notes are insane. The wood is powerful, with a charred barrel. It's impressively complex. The palate is even more intense (or better). It's dirty, like a nasty garage with puddles of diesel and used oil. Everything is extremely smoky and oily on the tongue. You get coffee left too long in the pot, long-chewed licorice, menthol. Old leather coats the gums. At first sip, the very impressive initial gulp quickly faded in a very surprising way for both of us testers. But the next sip stayed full and overwhelming. The old burnt barrel coated our taste buds for quite a while. Despite this rough description, man, is it good! The finish is endless, on leather, espresso, and burnt barrel.

What a wild ride...an extreme release. On the nose there's already an extreme amount of wood influence, ancient leather, some burnt plastic, dark fruits, resin...it's definitely challenging. The journey continues at a similar pace on the palate, again lots of tart barrel aromas, burnt notes, leather, tar, subtle licorice and dark dried fruits...the KFM Marque offers very special worlds of aromas that are on the edge of the extreme and are already a little over the top for my taste here with the tart, bitter wood influence. Nevertheless, the rum unfolds a fascination, the oxidation brings new impressions and the complexity is impressive. The alcohol is very well integrated and there is undoubtedly enough power. The antithesis of the easy sipper, pleasantly demanding, but also nothing to be taken lightly.

I think this is my first 91 KFM and it blows me away. The nose is super complex, but in a somewhat dark way. Wood, leather, prunes and mint dominate here. On the palate, I've never had such a blatant leather taste in a glass before. However, dried and tropical fruits, roasted aromas that are almost burnt, mint and a variety of herbs predominate. The finish is similarly complex. I am thrilled! Thanks to Oli for this great sample!

Nose that sets the tone: dark, woody, with licorice and a menthol touch. What intensity on the palate. The wood takes over completely, coating the mouth before letting licorice, menthol, and especially leather take their place. It’s dark but there’s still a little burnt sweetness for a hint of indulgence. Finish of infinite length. A bitterness tinged with coffee and licorice wraps the entire palate. These old Guyanas are definitely a treat. Superb! Edit: I wouldn’t change a word from my first note.

The Enmore is once again a lot of fun. Very round with all the distinctive points. Not too bitter, pleasant wood notes, chocolate, dark fruits, a little earthy. Great balance. I like it already.

Had the opportunity to try a small sample of this, so my review remains rather concise. Both smell and taste are unlike anything I’ve ever had in the glass before. I rarely use the marker ‘intense’, but if this isn’t intense, nothing is. Opens extremely woody, oily and mentholated. These ‘workshop notes’ are dirty, aggressive and last what seems infinitely, tackling the nostrils and the tongue. When they finally faint, the liquid settles into arancio tree, pine bark, leather and dried fruits. It evolves into a dark and tannins rich profile, oily (this time in the fruity sense: bitter peels) and herbal. The aftertaste lasts for a very long time. Cool, slightly bitter and very oily. Incredible quality, but at a hefty price.

Two KFM bottlings today, the rum Artesanal and Levy Lane. Of course, both are heavy, dark and woody. Compared to the RA, more herbal notes and spicier, with a hint of Maggi. I hardly notice the quite distinct mint note in the RA in the Levy Lane. Instead, there is a floral note - towards violet and very slightly soapy - which some people like, but I find rather annoying. Hence a slight point deduction. Less woody than the RA. Overall, the RA is slightly ahead for me.

I loved it. It’s a little on the woody side, one can really taste the barrel. In addition it’s spicy and has dried fruit. The nose is a little Caroni ish with some caramel. Really lovely. I had to drink this rather quickly as I needed to get back to work. And we were chatting as we sampled this rum. I would love to try it again, to let the rum rest for 30 minutes and take my time to really appreciate it.

Delicious KFM 91 with lots of violets, licorice, black tea, mint and plenty of bitterness. Very woody, pencil shavings but not too much and lots of tannins. Overall very balanced and drinkable despite its great age.

Tasted at the 13th GRF. I'm really happy about the opportunity and I really liked it. I'm a big fan of the KFM profile. Here is an absolutely great representative. It has exactly the flavor progression that I love so much. From musty, wet wood to sweet honey wax and dried fruit to fresh eucalyptus. Without the wood ever becoming unpleasantly bitter and dark, complex and oily. Great. Thanks to the GofA team for pouring it.

This incredibly brilliant Enmore 1991 almost comes across like a powerful and dirty Caroni. The nose is very intense with lots of wood, leather, dried plum, dark roasted aromas, herbs, licorice, and caramel. Alongside these come burnt beams, cask notes, and a bit of orange peel. On the palate, the intense aromatic profile hits me hard, reminding me strongly of robust Caronis. Wood, roasted notes, spices, leather, dried fruits, sulfur, herbs, tannins, and mint set the tone. Cask notes, burnt sugar, and licorice skillfully blend in, complementing the beautiful complexity of the entire spicy aroma profile. The slightly bitter undertone settles down during the tasting. The powerful and long finish is also influenced by dried fruits, roasted notes, wood, tannins, resin, and ends with a nice cocoa note. This Enmore is a great experience and new to me in its interesting aromatic profile. Thanks to @Julian_P for this fantastic sample 😀

5th stop, at The Colours of Rum, a Polish bottler known for its bright and colorful labels. And choosing the color that suits us is never an easy task with them! After tasting the exceptional Uitvlugt 1990 from Rum Sponge, I had the chance to revisit the Uitvlugt 1989 (Port Mourant). This rum stands out with its delicate bitter notes, dark chocolate, and spices, which I find really excellent. 🤩 In the same vein, the new KFM 1991 (33 years, 48.3%) impressed me with its rich aroma, without that astringency sometimes found in other KFM 91. It's a very high-quality KFM. Finally, the Port Mourant 1997 (24 years, 53.4%) and Foursquare 2006 (15 years, 61.5%) do the job and are well made, even if I don't find them extraordinary. In any case, no missteps at The Colours of Rum! And as a fan of Guyana rums, I definitely got my money's worth... 💰 But by the way, why bottle rum in Poland? 🇵🇱 Because we know rum warms you better than vodka when it's cold! 🥶

Great fabric, in contrast to the Perola Enmore Bellamy's KFM, with more corners and edges. The Bellamy's seemed a little softer and rounder to me. This one has a tick more wood and spiciness and a slight violet aroma. In my opinion, the KFM's only differ in small nuances. For me, this one is in the absolute reference class.

... Enmore - drive still, now just a functional still. Apparently the only wooden still in the world that enjoys great popularity. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.

An excellent heritage still Guyana. Lots of complex medicinal and industrial notes balanced pleasingly with wood and spice. My only criticism is that the finish is rather dry and spicy, but some may find this to be an advantage.

I like those bottlings in general that by the design of the label honor endemic or typical species of the region the distillery is based. Especially this one which pays tribute to the greatest of all eagles, the Harpy, or Haubariria in the language of the local tribe of the Lokono-Arawak. Well, the rum? A great rum too! Typical KFM of course, with burned caramel and the resulting flavors and sweetness from the coloring. Very balanced between the cask, the caramel and the rum flavors of dried fruits. Dark chocolate and espresso dominate the long finish. Not exactly where the Cadenheads are or our own bottling with Nobilis (#34), but top level.

Objectively, this is a good rum without question. Alcohol perfectly integrated, beautifully complex. But KFM just won't become my brand. I just don't have the right counterpart to the very bitter, woody, leathery notes. The tea note is not my cup of tea either. Herbs still come through, but unfortunately it's not harmonious for me.

A lot of burnt wood, prunes, leather in the aroma, the taste is even more uncompromising, adding oiliness, a little Caroni notes. I'm glad for the sample, but it's not the rum for me.

Magnificent selection of casks...a great enmore that doesn't give itself away right away. A rare complexity for a rum, everything is present (honey, roasted notes, wood, spice, citrus), not necessarily gourmet but complex and everything fits together well.
