Most tasters clocked the port-cask finish before anything else — it wraps the old Versailles pot-still in prune, raisin and Demerara sugar, with leather and tobacco underneath. At 45% it drinks soft and creamy, almost sweet, and that's the sticking point: several would happily take a few more percent to let the Guyana DNA push through. Fruity, rounded, easy to sip.

Community Tasting Enmore 1990. No. 4. A rum with a dark color, a nose of varnish and overripe banana, roasted, a little decadent. A clean attack on the palate, not diluted despite the rather light ABV, disparate aromas of leather, fruit. A very pleasant gourmand side. The finish is long, a little bitter, sweet and, fortunately, with good acidity. The empty glass is much more aromatic.

Blindtasting Enmore 1990 No.4: This bottling doesn't appeal to me at all. Too sweet, too fruity, obviously finished (port wine). There's not really anything essential left of a real Enmore for me. Too bad

In comparison, there were some 1990s from Guyana, which I was able to taste at the same time thanks to Alex_Kunath. A nice compilation of all the rums. Compared to all the others, this one made it into the top group.

RumX Blind Tasting 8x Enmore 1990 Rum No. 4 Leather, plum and some berries. The finish makes the bottling quite sweet. Too sweet for me for a higher rating. Many thanks to Alex for organizing!

Cross Tastinge across 12 bottlings of 1990 Versialles destilled Enmores. Looking at the reduced bottlings (Alamein, RN, Moon). On the nose all can hold up predatory good with the higher ABv bottlings. The RN finis is well executed, while somewhat overwhelming the Versailles notes. Still nice. Alambic with a nice basket of continental fruits and Moon delivering all classic notes beautifully. On the palate all three are very approachable with RN‘s finish again being very noticeable and present - for me a bit too intense. Despite the reduction, the Alambic carries some sting while providing intensity. The Moon bottling adds quite some sweetness, yet also noctiable burnt notes in the background.

Community Tasting Enmore 1990 VSG/MEV as a blind tasting. Rum4: Significantly darker in color than rums 1-3. Nice dark fruity nose with plum, prune and raisin with almondite. Oiled leather. Licorice and perhaps port wine. A little thin on the palate but tasty. Possibly a little sweet... wet finish perhaps. Lots of berry fruit. Unfortunately a little too sweet in the mouth. Tasted were: Rum 1 = rx1560 Alambic Classic Rum 2 = rx3280 Cave Guildive Rum 3 = rx12797 RDL Rum 4 = rx 1432 Rum Nation Rum 5 = rx 5924 Duncan Taylor Rum 6 = rx 5423 Moon Import Rum 7 = rx 17311 Rum Sponge Rum 8 = rx 12427 Greenheart My ranking: 8 > 7 = 5 > 6 = 3 > 4 = 2 > 1

RumX Community Tasting - Enmore 1990 (thanks to Alex!) Another bottling with a finish, goes in the direction of port wine. Nice heavy and fruity nose, but a bit too sweet on the palate for my taste.

Quite a restrained nose. The reduction is noticeable on the palate, as is the sherry finish, which cools the typical Enmore profile somewhat. Although light mineral notes and cask influences are recognizable alongside the heavy fruit sweetness aromas, the complexity is unfortunately greatly reduced by the finish. Very accessible and pleasing, but a little too unspectacular in its aromatic interplay.

13.01.2019 Nice and relaxing evening at home where I killed this bottle. Notes. Very dark in colour. Nose: fresh, wood, roasted, dried fruit, herbs, plum. Palate: light, wood, roasted, dried fruit, licorice, light leather. Finish: medium to long, wood, light smoke, dried and, caramel.

No4 of the 1990 Enmore Tasting, thanks to Alex Kunath. This is quite a fruity and light concoction, and I noticed the lower ABV immediately. This is, however, a case where this is not detrimental, I could easily imagine me sipping this casually, as it does not go all in with the Enmore DNA one gets with this bunch. Or, at least, the fruit is adding to the experience. I liked this one!

An Enmore / Versailles that steps a bit off the beaten path of the 1990 vintage. The nose is very fragrant, elegant and quite intense. The dried fruits (prunes) and raisins brought by the cask are heavy but pleasant, supported by wood, leather, tobacco and spices (chili, pepper and herbal notes). Vanilla and demerara sugar accentuate this sensation of "heavy sweetness." A sensual and softer nose than what we've seen on this vintage. On the palate, a full-bodied, indulgent rum not diluted despite the light alcohol level. A nice intensity on dried fruits, grape, port and sherry. The aromas head towards sweet and spicy notes complementing the wood, tobacco and leather. A malty side makes the difference on the palate. A beautiful creamy, round mouthfeel that pleases the palate. The finish is rather long, with quite a few roasted, malty and fruity notes. The profile is a bit bitter but comforting at the same time. It's a smooth rum, enhanced by caramel and spices and strongly influenced by the cask. An elegant and very classy rum, maybe the aging won't suit everyone, but I find it fits quite well with Enmore.

Guyana Tasting 1990 by Alex. All rums have been in the air for 30 minutes, equal rights for all :-) The No. 4 is not only different in color, but also massively different on the nose and palate. Beautiful piece. Wood, nut, leather and nice and dry. Creamy and the finish is really tasty again.

The Versailles notes can still be smelled on the nose. On the palate they fall away somewhat. The sherry cask influence brings a nice color, but otherwise it somewhat overshadows the great profile. A few % more would probably have done the rum good.

Enmore 1990 Tasting 4: Different from 1-3. Some kind of finish? Nose rather sweet, marzipan, dried fruits, spices. Taste quite light at first, sweet, herbal, dried plum. Hardly any bitterness. Initially recognizable as 1990 Enmore. But I think (definite) finish (PX Sherry or Port)
