Whistler Master Solera (24 Days Of Rum Advent Calendar)
People really can't agree on this South African advent-calendar pour. Some taste ripe banana, dried raisin and a soft port-cask spice and find it pleasant; others get a grainy, whisky-blend character and call it thin or "a bit superficial." Expect banana, dried fruit and a light woody-spicy edge at 46%, with a short finish that fades fast.
- Ripe banana note
- Dried fruit character
- Easy to drink

How does Whistler Master Solera (24 Days Of Rum Advent Calendar) taste?
Aggregated from 93 community reviews.
Divisive banana-and-raisin advent pour Genuinely divisive. Fans like the banana, dried fruit and port-cask spice; skeptics find it whisky-blend-like, thin and short-finished. Most land around average, not memorable.

For me, again clearly better than what the community thinks. Tastes slightly fruity and woody to me, but very tasty. Also has more like the standardized 40% :) e A normal rum, suitable for beginners.

Zároveň by mu slušela trochu vyšší voltaz. Celkově mi prijde dost jemný

"Good discovery In summary, my tasting notes: On the nose: Raisins, Banana On the palate: Sweet, Tropical fruit Finish: Spicy, Banana". I think South Africa is really going to bring us great things

Time to finish up 1423's "24 days of Christmas" (the blue edition). The rum from day 21 is from Africa. It has a malty whisky-like nose to me. In the notes I'm getting interesting hints of wine, fruits and a rather long malty finish

Secret South African distillery. Only one I know is Mhoba (goood!!!). This is not Mhoba. Smells like a whisky blend. A tad grainy. Sweets. A bit superficial. Not a big fan. Taste: blended whisky still. Dry/tannins. Wood. A bit smoky. Cheap. It taste cheap. Not too bad though but unbalanced. Not a fan.

What an interesting rum: from a former English colony, but reminiscent of Agricole notes and then still matured in the Solera process? well, the result is not bad but not overwhelming either. slightly fruity, herbal and clear molasses

It is similar to Jamaican rums only like it's diluted mild version. It reminds me of a Jamaican funky rum by 60%. It holds the funkiness that is characterstical of Jamaican rum, with spiciness, burnt sugar and sort of a freshness. Medium long finish. Definitely one of the more interesting rums in 2022 advent calendar. Retasting the sample from 2024 calendar by 1423 and 👃 is not very pleasant I am catching some wine aromas and wood and hint of agricole. 👅 is better, similar to jamaican rums as previously stated. A bit sharp and spicy with hint of vanilla in the finish.

Sample no.24 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. Dried raisins and sweet on the nose, some alcoholic sting to it but at 46% abv that is expected. Palate has same notes of dried fruit with ripe banana in the end. The fermented/funky I’m guessing comes from it beeing pot stilled and the flavours get more intense. Woody and banana after the sip.

Nice sweet and fine rum from different finish casks. Very nice blend with tastes of port, spice and honey. Easily drinkable.

Spicy, fruity nose of banana, prune and raisin. On the palate, it is slightly woody, spicy (especially the liquorice stick) and honeyed. The length is very short. A rum that does not showcase South Africa.

This rum is weird. It smells/taste like a scotch whisky of low quality. To me, it does not know what it is. And does non of the spirits justice. I would spend my money elsewhere.
