Tasting from the A.H. Riise calendar and a very nice surprise right at the start. Sweeter, but still a very tasty rum that immediately caught my attention. I'm already looking forward to more pieces from their selection.

#7354 24.09.2026 Relaxing with some A. H Riise samples that I got today. Everything is packed for my Whisky Live in Paris and I will leave tomorrow morning for the airport. Listening to some Armin van Buuren on Spotify. Also a rum below par in my mind. Very sweet profile with fruits, tobacco, chocolate, nuts, spice, caramel and a very sweet oily palate.

At first a bit spritzy on the nose and palate, but quickly gives way to the typical Riise sweetness. Pleasant vanilla and plum notes round off this rum. I would recommend this rum, although there are better ones from the Riise house.

A smell of sugared hazelnut choppings or nougatine. A light whiff of fireworks. The taste is very sweet and all about candied orange peel. A light nuttiness again in the finish.

Very similar flavor profile to a large part of AHR. On the nose, a stronger alcoholic profile stings, you can smell a lot of caramel, fruit, nuts. Otherwise, it's pleasant on the palate, vanilla, fruit, caramel, lots of sugar. Pleasant, easy drinking, hard to distinguish from other AHR.

The description says that this is a sweet rum. I would not classify this as a rum, rather a liqueur. The description on the bottle is quite accurate in that sense: 'superior spirit drink made from premium matured rum'. I would not sell this as a rum, but as a liqueur it is okay.
