Sip this one neat — it's a round, gourmand Guadeloupe agricole finished in Breton whisky casks. Expect ripe pear and baked apple, buttery caramel, strawberry, and a soft sugarcane vegetal note, with tannins showing up on the finish. A few tasters found it almost too sweet and rich for an agricole, but most call it well balanced and easy to love.

Overall a great and well balanced Agricole. The Carrere distillery in Guadeloupe has started a release of a collection of Agricole’s that’s finished in different casks. Right now I have seen six different releases, but just two have reached Europe so far. This one is distilled in 2015, aged for almost 7 years before finished during 188 days in barrels from the Menhirs distillery previously contained Breton whiskey and thereafter bottled in just 2240 numbered bottles. I’m looking forward to taste the following releases in the La Rencontre series.

Buckwheat Whisky Finish from France was new to me until now. Nicely chosen alcohol content, very pleasant but not too thin. Taste-wise buttery, slightly minty, complemented by pear and strawberries with sour whipped cream. Intense tannins on the finish. Doesn't hit 100% my taste but is definitely very well made.

9:The nose is extremely candied and gourmand, like a cane juice delicacy encrusted with pear and baked apple. The woodiness is also very mellow, so behind a heavy veil of vanilla, we discover a soft bread dough exhaling cereal aromas and toffee. Aeration adds to the velvety, even syrupy aspect of this nose, with some honeycomb. Fruits such as mirabelle plum, pear and very ripe grapes melt into a honey-sprinkled sweet spice and carrot cake. After some time caramelized coffee notes. 9,2:On the palate, the mirabelle plum jam is set in a very buttery, very sweet caramel, a bit like the one that coats popcorns. As for the rhum agricole, it sends out a few bursts of lemony freshness, ripe strawberry, perfectly balancing the whole on the mid-palate. The cane then expresses itself with lovely patina notes, softly vegetal and peppery... at the end with creme brulee and honeycomb. 9:The finish is lightly woody, with a hint of cocoa, lemon peel, baked apple and a few wisps of toasted nuts. #5108 13.02.2025 Running some samples at home while relaxing on the final days of my vacation. Nose Fresh, fruity, light wood, spice, light honey, light plum, light pear, faint coffee, sugarcane. Palate Fresh, round, balanced, fruity, light citrus, sugarcane, light caramel, light wood, light vegetal, spice. Finish Medium long, fresh, balanced, light wood, light caramel, faint chocolate, light apple. Empty glass Light roasted, light chocolate, light lemon, apple, light nutts.

Wisky Live 2023, session dégustation rapide ! Belle découverte, je retiens le beurre et la fraise, profil très rond et très gourmand (presque un peu trop pour moi). Finalement le meilleur de cette série ? Je ne sais pas le dire je n’ai pas été ébahi non plus part Montebello qui reste en bas du tableau pour moi.
