Here is a clear representative of the "Spanish style". Nose: at first the alcohol comes across unpleasantly sharp and the rum seems very metallic. I've noticed this often with relatively young "Spaniards." Behind that it becomes fruitier, with sour lime, sour cherry, and apple. Also spicy-chocolaty-woody with vanilla and cocoa powder. Overall unexciting. 72 Palate: also initially alcoholic-metallic, but then quickly a pleasant spicy-woody, chocolaty-licorice note appears. The whole thing is slightly bitter and becomes creamier towards the back. 74 The high ABV is not so well integrated but transports the aromas and creates pleasant creaminess. Solid but nothing more.

The nose is so closed that it is hard to recognize anything at all. A bit of alcohol, caramel, and vanilla can be guessed, really terrible. Nothing comes through on the palate either, absolutely flat. I didn't expect much beforehand and unfortunately, that's exactly how it turned out.

15/03/25: tasted @ Brussels Rhum Festival. Panama can be way more interesting than this. This had a rather average flavour profile, but not bad. I appreciate the higher ABV, but the alcohol could have been better integrated.

Very chocolatey Panama rum, alcohol moderately integrated and relatively monotonous. One-sided smell, taste only slightly versatile, the best is the start, which is creamy chocolatey.
