Caroni drinkers expecting the full tar-and-diesel monster should know this one goes the other way. At 33 years the petrol has faded to a soft, chocolatey, sherry-touched Caroni — light wood, honey, mint and a faint cherry on a long warm finish. Most owners find it lovely; a couple of tasters call it thin and the alcohol not fully tucked in. Rewards resting in the glass.

#5990 24.11.2025 Relaxing with a few samples while watching the TV Series Grimm. Nose Light wood, roasted, light honey, vanilla, light mint, light pineapple, citrus. Palate Intense, wood, light roasted, light honey, light chocolate, light herbs, citrus, light bitter. Finish Long and warm, medium dry, wood, light dried fruit, faint cherry, light bitter, herbs. Empty glass Citrus, herbs, light chocolate, light musty. I wonder why so many have given this rum so poor scores. Maybe they have gotten a bad bottle, becaue I think this is an OK rum. Needs to rest for a good while to settle properly and for all the flavours to be released. A few drops of water will also dampen the profile.

Quite a demanding release. It comes across as a very light rum that still has a few fruity aromas thanks to the finish. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not well integrated. In a direct comparison with the 1989 Caronis, this is my personal laggard.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing rum at the height of its fame, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to naval blends. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000 the distillery ended production and was closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who liked the rum precisely for its special taste. And interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of rums "you need to try before you die." I recommend it, Caroni is really a unique rum.

Finally got to this rum🤤I'm not a big Caroni expert, I've only had a few. It's an amazing bottle and it's an honor for me to have it at home☺️😍 both graphically and in taste. It's very good. As has been written many times, it's not heavy Caroni but beautifully gentle and chocolatey. If you're looking for technicality, kerosene and such, you won't find it. But there is a pleasant hint of leather🤤

Pleasant taste with fruity sweetness and strong menthol notes. But it doesn't taste much like Caroni. I'd gladly have a shot, but not at that price.

Really bad. Only neutral alcohol, hardly drinkable. Unfortunately, even the sherry finish doesn't add much value.
