Made for people who already love old-school agricole and don't mind a lot of cask. This 17-year Martinique juice from Saint James, bottled at 58% by LMDW, leans hard into wood, spice and leather, with a minty-eucalyptus lift at the end and flashes of cherry, cocoa and dark fruit. Several tasters found the wood almost too dominant; the strength is remarkably well hidden.

A great Bally that fits in well with the LMDW range. A little more beastly and less complex than its legendary 1999 brother and also the good 2006 bottling. Nevertheless, a solid rum that is a lot of fun.

I love Bally and have a lot of them on my shelves. This particular one is just up there with the best. A very floral release compared to the other releases from Bally. We'll rounded and fruity with spices and chocolate as well as a hint of coffee. Price to quality at release was really good 😊

Crazy how different the nose and taste are here! Very tasty Agricole but you have to like bitter, woody and herbal notes. What's exciting here is especially the interplay of aromas in the mouth between vanilla seeds, sweet espresso, banana peel to herbs, leather, tobacco and intense cask aromas. Very nice Agricole for which you need and should take your time!

RumX Advent Calendar, 2.12., blind. Had the already times to 30.3.20 in the glass. First impression: the must have a sherry finish. This impression has lasted a long time, only after 1h was the perceived sherry nose gone and it came through a bit Agricole... Nose: powerfully aromatic and complex, tobacco and a slight menthol note out the back. There's red wine or sherry and some tropical fruit, maybe papaya. Wood with vanilla, light vinegar and some cocoa butter. Palate: strong and spicy again, fruity and tart like blackcurrant, woody and a bit bitter. Increasingly minty and grassy at the back, like dry eucalyptus.... Surprised positively. Good drop!

Powerful and somewhat atypical Agricole (but also my first Bally). Very complex and I would have blindly tasted a finish out, so you can deceive yourself. Glad to have tried him, great rum for the Advent calendar.

#2 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Classic Agricole in the nose with notes of cedar wood, caramel, citrus, wood, floral, earthy. In mouth it‘s very elegant, full body with notes of fruity notes, wood, leather, licorice. The finish is medium long and woody. Prediction: J. Bally, approx 15 years, 45%. Wonderful Agricole profile from Bally with the full spectrum of hazelnut, cocoa, caramel, oak notes, dried fruits and a nice spice blend. Not quite on par with the best Bally BdF vintage bottlings, but the level remains impressive.

Tasted blind from my Christmas Calendar. First impression was a sour note, had to work a bit to get behind that and experience the hidden gems. The Alcohol was very well hidden.

Very nice Agricole, typical of the distillery so very marked by the wood. The nose is really nice, dark with licorice and cocoa brought by the cask but also a nice fruitiness behind and beautiful spices. On the palate it's less complex and the fruitiness has mostly disappeared behind all the wood aromas. It's super good but I prefer when the wood leaves more room for the rest.

On the nose it is full-bodied and spicy with wood, leather, red fruits, vanilla, roasted coffee and some vegetal, very good! On the palate enveloping and spicy, toasted with leather, wood, vegetal, floral, peppery, vanilla and mixed dried fruits. The aftertaste remains earthy. Thanks to Dr.Django for the opportunity.

Great nose. At first extremely fresh - menthol, camphor. Very woody but well integrated. Red fruits - cherry, peach. Warm, strong, complex. Very full-bodied. Woody spice, lots of power and body. Great old-school agricole. Thanks to Bonn!!

2.12.21 Rum X Advent calendar: a nice rum. Agricole came quickly. But more details unclear. Alcohol could be a bit better integrated. Therefore for my palate not round enough and too sharp-edged. Still...👌🏼

Lots of herbs and woodiness. On the finish a certain minty sharpness which is pleasant on the palate. The wood notes are associated with quite bitter notes which don't harmonize as well here as, for example, in the Gardel 1983 from Rum Club.

We have a rum with a beautiful mahogany color. The nose is clearly woody, but a beautiful, rich, and indulgent woodiness. It's intense, also notes of cocoa powder, orange, spices, and vanilla. The nose is indulgent, you dive back in to fully enjoy it. This is the typical nose of a fine old agricole rum in which one loves to dip their nostrils indefinitely. It's warm on the palate, vigorous, with a predominance of wood. It has body, and you find the nose notes (vanilla, dark chocolate, a slight blood orange fruitiness).

Really woody and tannic..this is the feeling I've drinking this rhum. On the nose besides the wood plenty of spices, including coriander which brings some almost soapy notes, plus some agrumes. Drink side, wood is dominant and brings bitternes and astringency. Spices are still here with the soapy note. It's not exactly soap, maybe the solid soap from my childhood is a better similarity.

Complex on the nose. Chemical notes of rubber and glue as well as nuts or sweet tropical fruits. Wonderfully intense and mild, even when deeply inhaling from the nosing glass. The mildness for almost 60% is overwhelming. Herbs give way to fruits. Wood comes through before cherry and chocolate make their way. In the finish, notes of leather. Conclusion: Best Agricole I've drunk so far and thus also the J.Bally series. It simply brings fun on the nose and palate through its complex, intense but balanced full-bodiedness.

Wow, this one is really extraordinary. Very woody, slight mint / eucalyptus note, strong color, reminds me of Saint James CdR 2003 and has a hint of Trinidad - very nicely dark and complex. Alcohol content is very well integrated, great rum
