Hampden 8 MARKS COLLECTION LFCH 2022
Sipped neat, this is unaged Hampden at its rawest: solvent, glue and green apple up front, then pineapple, citrus and a nutty, cherry-yogurt edge. At 60% it's dry and a touch bitter, and most tasters find it the quietest, flattest mark of the eight. Several who tried it in cola found it far friendlier than in the glass.

Raw, dry unaged Hampden, the quiet mark A study piece more than a sipper. Tasters call it the least convincing of the 8 Marks — fruity but thin, dry and a bit fade — though a few enjoy the nutty, apple side and swear by it with Pepsi.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Im Vergleich zum umgelagerten OWH etwas mehr Klebstoff in der Nase und am Gaumen etwas würziger. Den OWH finde ich aber in der ungelagerten Version trinkbarer. Fazit: keiner der 16 Rums war ein Genuss und die Bewertung ist nur als relativ untereinander zu verstehen. Trotzdem sehr interessant alle Marks unter gleichen Bedingungen zu probieren und die verschiedenen Ausprägungen von Frucht, Klebstoff, Würze und Überraschenderweise oft Umami zu schmecken. Demnächst ein Set mit 3-5 Jahren im Fass?

… der zweite der 8-Marks-Collection. Nase: wie der OWH ist Spülmittel dominierend. Ebenso hat er für mich eine angenehme Kischjoghurt-Note. Hinzu kommen wieder Limette und Organe. Hinzu kommt noch säuerlicher, grüner Apfel. Insgesamt auf der fruchtigen Seite. Ester sind trotz der 4 Tage Fermentation nicht wirklich zu vernehmen, am ehesten in der buttrigem Joghurt-Note. Gaumen: kommt recht cremig-süßlich-würzig. Der Kardamom-Geschmack ist etwas intensiver als beim OWH, wird aber von Süßholz begleitet. Etwas fette Nuss mischt sich hinzu. An Frucht finde ich Kirsche. Hinten Wetter er etwas seifig. Hampden erkenne ich kaum, Ester sind nicht herauszuschmecken, ist aber erstaunlich aromatisch.

Tasting of the 8 Hampden Marks and re-tasting one year later. The tasting is very similar to that of last year. The chalky nose of the OWH has been erased, replaced by solvent and glue, with fruit - including fig - coming later. The palate is thinner than the OWH, but the solvents have almost disappeared and the fruit has taken over. It's longer, with lots of fruit. The empty glass is very fruity, like a tropical orchard, and the solvents reappear.

spannendes Tasting. Einige waren für mich überraschenderweise äusserts lecker und schmackhaft. Die allseits beliebte Destilliere in einem anderen Licht. Das Grundprodukt in dieser Form zu versuchen hat seinen Reiz. Die Reife durch die Lagerung ist dann doch eine andere Hausnummer. Ich hab am Schluss alle 8 Marks zusammen geschüttet und 3 Wochen stehen gelassen, ich muss sagen Top. Alle 8 zusammen ergeben echt ein gutes Profil.

The apple from the OWH is suddenly joined by a whole fruit basket of pineapple, banana and, surprisingly, cherry and almond! It's also subtly reminiscent of fruit yoghurt! The solvent note recedes into the background, replaced by the taste of cocoa nibs and slight, rather negative petrol associations in the finish. Much more pleasant and rounder than the OWH, but still room for improvement.

Dégustation du coffret Hampden 8 marks entre copains ! Un bon lundi ! Notes rapides : Amertume, Poivre, pamplemousse, Vernis à ongles Assez sec quand même Étonnant je ne m’attendais pas forcément à ça. Finale un peu trop sèche et courte. Édit : bien savoureux tout de même avec de l’ananas très mûr que je n’avais pas eu la première fois.

Weiter geht's. Dieser Rum hat satte 60%. Er schmeckt leicht fruchtig und meiner Meinung nach auch leicht alkoholisch. Ist jetzt Keim Spitzenklasse-Rum aber doch ganz okay. Mal sehen, was die anderen Rums aus der Collection sagen.

Tried at the Hampden Masterclass with Daniele Biondi during Whisky Live. Great experience to deconstruct Hampden, although the individual unaged spirits weren’t that great overall. 2. LFCH 5.5 Boring, close to Vodka for me. Didn’t like at all. Not sure if it is my palate or the pour stood too long, vastly different than the others.

Kenne die Chemie deines Hampden-Rums! Das 8-Marks-Set ist sehr informativ und lehrreich. Das LROK-Mark hat zwar keinen hohen Estergehalt, ist aber sehr vielfältig, was mir gut gefällt. Leider ist modrige Note im Mund sehr präsent, was mir wiederum nicht gefällt.

LFCH - классный звонкий спирт. Фруктов больше, тропические, концентрированный лимонный сок, намеки на ласковость. Хвосты тоже ощущаются. Вкус питкий, даже не колкий. Тропические фрукты, баланс кислого и сладкого, приятная терпкость.

Second of the marques. A bit more overripe that the first and not much improved. The nose is fruitier with raspberry and overripe fruit. Nutty and fermented fruit on the mouth. The finish is chocolate and petrol with overripe fruit.

The mark LFCH does not really make sense to me as a white rum. Tropically stored the rum wins, but unstored he is rather uninteresting-although no off notes are present.
