All in all, an exciting tasting. Some of them were surprisingly delicious and tasty. The ever-popular distillery in a different light. Trying the basic product in this form has its appeal. The maturation through storage is a different matter. My platform: HLCF > HGML > C<>H Clear low-light: LROK

Vanilla, light caramel. I know esters are a little higher here than LROK but it seems a little lighter in profile to me than LROK or even LFCH. Pours clear with light hint of gold like the others.

Also top this Hampden from the 8 Marks Collection. Ester on the nose, of course, but also tropical. Fruits. The tropical fruits continue on the palate, in combination with citrus fruits. Alcohol well integrated. Delicious.

Dégustation des 8 marks Hampden et regoûté un an après avec une meilleure note. La dégustation est très proche de celle de l’année passée. Le nez est plein de fruits trop mûrs, légère volatile, mais pas de solvants. La bouche est pointue, complexe avec toujours des fruits sur-mûrs. L’alcool n’est pas si bien intégré. La finale est un peu plus longue, sur l’umami les fruits et un léger champignon. On pourrait penser à un Whisky écossais en sentant le verre vide. Troublant.

Tasting with LROK, C<>H, and DOK. Compared to the LROK, this has some more salient spice notes and umami that reminds me of movie popcorn a bit. Great unaged, but wouldn’t fill the daiquiri role as well as LROK. Fantastic aged.

Édit : le nez est un peu décevant avec l’aération, c’est plus herbacé / Thé et moins esterisé que dans mon souvenir. Dégustation du coffret Hampden 8 marks entre copains ! Un bon lundi ! Notes rapides : Plus équilibré mais presque plat X3 en sensation vs le premier. Ester facile à boire. Petit côté orange Fruité et massepain. Super agréable et équilibré ! Elle longueur.

The Mark HLCF does not really make sense to me as a white rum. Tropically stored the rum wins, but unstored he is rather uninteresting-although there are also no off notes.

Kenne die Chemie deines Hampden-Rums! Das 8-Marks-Set ist sehr informativ und lehrreich. Das HLCF-Mark wird als Übergang zu den schwereren Estermolekülen und Esterrums betrachtet. Jetzt mit vermehrt mit grüner Banane und roten Beeren. Im Mund nicht ganz so übel vergoren, geht eigentlich ziemlich klar.

Der vierte der 8-Marks-Collection. Nase: endlich, jetzt kommen die Ester. Wird ja auch Zeit mit jetzt bis max. 600! Und dazu auch die HD- typischen Marzipan-, Ananas und Essig-Aromen. Das alles aber nur, wenn man gleich nach dem einschenken schnüffelt. Bleibt er länger offen stehen, sind alle Ester futsch. Hat aber immer noch auch etwas leicht grünes, herbes. Gaumen: zum ersten Mal auch hier endlich Ester. Leicht süßlich, trocken, noch etwas cremig und auch wieder deutlich Süßholz. Wirkt insgesamt wieder mehr würzig, mit einem Hauch Kardamom. Wenn er lange offen an der Luft steht, nimmt das Kardamom übrigens überhand. So bleibt es im Hintergrund, ist aber da. Durch die aufkommenden Ester kommt nun etwas Hampden-DNA hinzu. Blind könnte er aber auch irgendetwas sein. Bleibt spannend.

Thanks to DomM Franconian Tasting Gang rocks. Unfortunately, I didn't like it that much. But I'm now seriously thinking about getting a set and trying them all as mixers. Now that the set is available everywhere again at a reasonable price.

Much rounder than the LROK! Finally the kind of ester I like: brioche pastry, burnt sugar, ripe pineapple and banana... There's also some raspberry, fresh black pepper, lime and green apple on the finish. No more disturbing petrol note in the finish, but some licorice. Certainly makes a great daiquiri!
