Acetone, sour pineapple and marzipan hit hard here — this is unaged, high-ester Hampden with nothing to hide behind. Tasters find butyrate-driven fruit, overripe rot, a buttery, oily body and real acidity. 31.07.2026 Retasting with my good friend and this is still a pretty decent experiment. Now this one is usually pretty tough for me, but this particular one is well balanced and naturally sweet. --------------- A really good release considering it's unaged. Fruity with nice esters and a lovely roasted note.

Overall, exciting tasting. Some were surprisingly for me extremely tasty and tasty. The ever popular distillery in a different light. Trying the basic product in this form has its appeal. The maturity through storage is then but another house number. My pedestal: HLCF > HGML > C<>H Clear low light: LROK

Tasted the 8 Hampden marks and re-tasted a year later. The most expressive nose, a little alcoholic but with vegetal and bitter notes. The palate entry is a little bumpy, but quickly becomes delicious. This is the most complex of the series. The very long finish seems to confirm that the higher the esters, the longer the finish. The empty glass has slight hints of woodiness/smokiness, and is also reminiscent of a Scotch whisky. Splendid white rum, my favorite of the series without a doubt.

Know the chemistry of your Hampden rum! The 8-Marks set is very informative and educational. The C<>H Mark mainly consists of butyrate and caproate esters, so full load of sour fruits, red berries, coconut and candied fruits. Also some buttery or creamy notes can be found on the nose. On the palate sweet and candied fruits, leaving a consistently overripe, fermented and buttery aroma.

Danke an DomM Franconian Tasting Gang rocks. Leider fand ich diesen gar nicht so gut. Bin aber mittlerweile ernsthaft am Überlegen, ob ich mir nicht doch noch ein Set zulegen sollte und alle als Mixer zu probieren. Nachdem das Set überall wieder zum günstigen Preis zu haben ist.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection here the Diamond. Already in the high ester range, which you can of course smell and taste. On the nose also glue and some banana. On the palate additionally tropical fruits, also oily and overripe.

The seventh and penultimate of the 8 Marks Collection. Last often had in the glass in matured form and always very very good.Nose: 20 days of fermentation let neat esters pop in the nose. Very close to HGML with lots of pineapple marzipan and lots of vinegar. There is a tart sweetness of maple syrup here. Behind that, though, still a touch of cardamom as well. Palate: delicious! Nice, intense esters. Marzipan and tart pineapple. Dry it is. I don't even have to try to get more out of it. Brilliant.

Big Hampden 8 Marks Collection Tasting C<>H unaged: An outlier in an otherwise very consistently developing series. On the nose pure alcohol, lots of esters and little tropical fruit. On the palate then clearly fruitier. Overall it feels very sharp-edged, somewhat medicinal.

Mon Cheri with fresh car paint on the nose! Brings everything I expect from a High Ester Hampden. Great oily, almost buttery mouthfeel, in general this ester mark reminds me strongly of buttered and toasted brioche buns or fresh croissants, plus tropical fruit, light roasted aromas and salt, as well as subtle marzipan. Very balanced and delicious!

Same profile, same composition as the HGML but more esters. Also a nose with more fruit and more power on the palate. It's a bit borderline to sip with so many esters though. Same same!!

spannendes Tasting. Einige waren für mich überraschenderweise äusserts lecker und schmackhaft. Die allseits beliebte Destilliere in einem anderen Licht. Das Grundprodukt in dieser Form zu versuchen hat seinen Reiz. Die Reife durch die Lagerung ist dann doch eine andere Hausnummer. Ich hab am Schluss alle 8 Marks zusammen geschüttet und 3 Wochen stehen gelassen, ich muss sagen Top. Alle 8 zusammen ergeben echt ein gutes Profil.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Fruit is a bit more subtle than in the HGML, both on the nose and palate. Marzipan and spice come in. Overall, I liked the unaged HGML better. Conclusion: none of the 16 rums was a delight and the rating is only to be understood relatively among themselves. Still very interesting to try all Marks under the same conditions and taste the different expressions of fruit, glue, spice and surprisingly often umami. Soon a set with 3-5 years in the barrel?

Hampden 8 Marks C<>H unaged. My favorite mark in the unaged version works surprisingly well. The alcohol still bothers, but not as present as in some other 8 Marks series.

Отчетливо ощущается мескальный дымок, маринованных оливок очень много, острый имбирь в ядовитом тропическом лимонаде и какие-то космические пряности. Космический вкус, кислый, сладкий, тропический, терпкий, оливки, миндаль , бензин и острое оливковое масло.

In all rums from this distillery you can sense wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

➡️ OWH: nice surprise. Citrus, freshness, and perfectly integrated alcohol. ➡️ LFCH: more discreet, flatter. The least convincing of the series. ➡️ LROK: things get serious. Pineapple, ripe fruits, acetone... Complex and already very Hampden. My favorite of the first half. ➡️ HLCF: arrival of varnish notes and the famous "funk." Interesting, but still a bit linear. 🚀 Second series: welcome to the stratosphere of esters ➡️ <>H: the heart of Hampden. Exotic fruits, banana, complexity, and balance. The typical profile of the distillery. ➡️ HGML: the fruits recede, pastry and almond paste notes take over. ➡️ C<>H: no joke here anymore. Nail polish remover, explosive acidity, and impressive aromatic concentration. ➡️ DOK: the legend. An avalanche of fruits, pastry, funk, and yet an amazing harmony. My absolute favorite of the evening. ❤️ 🎯 The big surprise? We organized this tasting "for science" expecting to suffer with some ultra-esterified whites. Well... not at all. Sure, these rums aren't for every palate, but overall it remained surprisingly coherent and pleasant to taste from start to finish. A true demonstration of Hampden's know-how.

Tried at the Hampden Masterclass with Daniele Biondi during Whisky Live. Great experience to deconstruct Hampden, although the individual unaged spirits weren’t that great overall. 7. C<>H 8.0 Esters are taking over, already a certain complexity even unaged. Fruits start to rot with some accompanying marzipan notes. Yummy!

Un nez très puissant. Du rhum fire en plus parfumé encore. Alcool bien intégré. Bouche parfumée. Finale assez longue, typique hampden. Moins extrême que le DOK, et donc un peu meilleur je trouve. Une des 2 marks les plus intéressants parmi les 8.

Tasting with LROK, HLCF, and DOK. Wow! This could be my favorite mark. So complex. Sweet, fruity, spicy, intense, with lovely umami notes — again like movie popcorn — that all hang together so well.
