It's not bad at all, with plenty of age and watts, but still not quite to my taste. There's a smokiness and peatiness that I don't like, as I'm usually looking for more acidity and sharpness. Tried it on the spot at Christian Montaguere in Paris and I recommend all rum lovers in the world to pay it a visit. Absolutely top-notch store in every respect.

From the very first tasting I suspected someone was 'cheating', it tastes like Barbados but it isn't, nor is it smooth Jamaica. I feel a lot of wood in the nose and taste - matured cask... it's the type of rum I like... and it has a pleasant finish... Compared to other rums of the same brand, this one seems like the 'grown-up' brother... not sweet, has more % but still pleasant to drink and rounded.

In the nose I feel barrel and sweet notes of chocolate, coconut and caramel. After sipping pleasantly surprised by the absence of oversweetness, higher abv and barrel influence, which pushes the rum to the tail end of the brand's production. Reminds me of Barbados. Medium finish.

Licorera Cihuatán Christian de Montaguère is a Salvadoran rum created as a tribute to a French rum expert. This blend has delicate notes of caramel, coconut, and chocolate, complemented by spices and vanilla. The aroma is rich, combining notes of leather, wood, and spices with hints of caramel and cocoa. On the palate, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla dominates, complemented by notes of coconut, chocolate, and subtle wood. The finish is harmonious, sweet, and pleasantly warming.

One of the best South Americans I've tasted. Super indulgent, punchy without being powerful. You really get pastry and spicy markers without falling into sugar, it's also a bit roasted. A kind of profile close to Demeraras, but lighter and finer, less intense. Great bottle more for pleasure than pure tasting!
