I love Islay whisky so I had to try this rum finished in Islay casks. I was hoping that the combination works similarly well as Islay whisky and sherry cask maturation. But it did not work out for this rum. The cask influence is way too much so there is no balance. Less time in the Islay cask would have helped a lot. Despite giving it time and water I wasn’t able to find rum notes. Nevertheless quite interesting and I really liked the earthy notes.

Sweet islay rum. I love islay whisky. But not sweet
Review by Matej
Well this one was quite strange. Aroma of this rum, maybe I should write of this meat is very, very, very smoky, woody and little spicy. It is an interesting aroma but I have to say it is not pleasant at all. Taste is little bit better. At the beggining little bit sweet but than again very smoky and woody. This one is really easy to describe - I am drinking smoked bacon. Finish it self is very short which will reminded smokehouse. This one is most interesting sample yet for me, but in the bad way. I really do hate the aroma, the flavor try to make things better. Should you try it? In my opinion NO.
