#4028 Now we're getting somewhere. Once rested this is a very nice rum. Medium fruity with very nice spices and roasted wood. An intense profile from pouring to finish. Nice profile. Draws nice curtains though not as heavy ones as the lighter brother.

Very nice 89er PM that especially surprised me positively on the nose. Besides the typical markers, you can smell milk cocoa or chocolate cookie. On the palate, more burnt than roasted, but not too disturbing.

April 14, 2025 - Tasting of Rom de Luxe rums at the Casa de la Havana Vieja bar in Prague, attended by Kim Pedersen and organized by Pavel Unger. Once again, an excellent selection by Kim and his team. When it comes to Guyanas, I would say they never put a foot wrong.

Industrial nose, in a positive way. But then strong alcohol bite that hides the taste. Sailors' stuff. 30 minutes and a coffeespoon of water much better. Becomes more oily and tasty and for sure more easily drinkable.

A deeply aromatic and elegant old Demerara rum. Molasses, dark caramel and burnt sugar intertwine with dried figs, dates and black raisins. Layers of orange peel, espresso, dark chocolate and polished oak emerge with time. Despite the age, the wood remains beautifully integrated, while a touch of menthol and old leather adds extra complexity. Palate: Exceptionally rich and oily with an almost syrup-like texture. Dark fruits, treacle and rich toffee dominate at first before bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee beans and tobacco take over. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by subtle oak bitterness and gentle spices, preventing the rum from ever becoming heavy. Despite the immense intensity, every component teels precisely placed. Finish: Long, warming and remarkably elegant. Dark chocolate, espresso, licorice, oak and lingering molasses slowly fade into tobacco, dried fruits and subtle spice. • Overall A beautitully mature Uitvlugt that showcases everything great about old Demerara rum. Powerful yet refined, intensely concentrated but never exhausting. The balance between sweetness, oak and bitters is outstanding, while the oily texture carries the flavours semingly forever. A rum that keeps evolving with every minute in the the glass

One of the best 1989 PMs in a great cask strength, probably the only one I've tasted from this vintage, and the 60+ ABV was from Colors of Rum. You can feel more fruit here. But both are great and beautifully aged. PM did not disappoint.
