I tried this a few times over the years. As I grew to better understand what was meant by a Jamaican funk, I enjoyed it more. It’s still a bit strong, but mixes well.

25.05.2019 Sitting at home enjoying some nice samples. Notes Light in colour. Nose Intense, ester, fruity, banana, overripe, light mineral, vanilla, light roasted wood,. Palate Round, spicy, medium dry, fruity, banana, ester, light caramel. Finish Medium long, fruity, warm, light caramel.

A Jamaican with a rather simple profile to introduce novices. The nose is very recognizable: esters and ripe fruits. But the Monymusk rounds it all off and gives this rum a gourmand touch. Very light as it is very diluted. Not much length. But in my opinion, it remains a nice way to discover Jamaican rums. Edit: tested again and I lower my rating because it is still very faint.

I am a total beginner in the Jamaican style and I found it very pleasant with a very nice balance between tropical fruits, esters and wood. The 40% reduction did not prevent a nice length in the mouth.

Number 22 from the Tastillery Advent calendar. A nice Jamaican. Wonderfully fruity on the nose and nice ester notes in the mouth, without being overwhelmed by too much funk. Very pleasant and also quite recommendable for beginners in the Jamaica area.

Good and inexpensive entry into Jamaica Rums, if it should not immediately be an ester bomb. Well comparable with the Plantation Xamayca. Quite flat profile and watery consistency which is offset by the good price-performance ratio.

On the nose I get grilled pineapple soaked in alcohol. The rum has a very luscious mouth feel with fresh pineapple and some funk. There is a very creamy finish that is a mix of vanilla, tropical fruit, and some heat. Overall a solid rum.

Nice entry-level Jamaican with fruit, spices and vanilla. Without coloring and sugar, but unfortunately way too thin. For me, it mainly goes into tea, drinks or cake.

In der Nase sehr feine Ester, fruchtig und würzig. Insgesamt wohl auch für Ester-Einsteiger gut geeignet. Für mich dann doch etwas zu harmlos wenn sich sehr angenehm. Auch am Gaumen bleibt er seicht, weist aber die typischen Aromen auf: leichte Ester, die Würzigkeit von Anis, etwas süßes von Honig und eine leicht Rauheit von Leder. Klar dass durch die starke Verdünnung auf nur 40% viel verloren gegangen ist. Als Einstieg in die Jamaika Geschmackswelt aber gut geeignet.

Nice, balanced aromatics with a light ester profile, lots of banana, some coconut, slightly exotic; on the palate with a slim body, maybe a little too thin, but pleasantly dry, banana-fruity, also an olive and almost mineral note, overall relatively complex and super easy to drink.

Nose: light & fruity. Banana, peach, mango, yogurt, little bit of esters & hint of spices. Taste: Light & smoth. Lot of yellow fruits, banana, apricot, mango, dry wood, some spices, orange zest, ginger. Aftertaste: medium, spicy & fruity, dry & round. Very tasty, but simple rum. Traditional Jamaica. Will be nice to beginners!

This is a good quality clean rum that is not a load of added suger but flavour is rum ... Sadly the market has overtaken this one This blends the Hampden flavour that feel muted down . I would us this to introduce the funk of Jamaica 🇯🇲

Disappointed by this rum. Maybe good in cocktails to bring out its aromas. The 40% is very intense on the first sip but lacks the kick of a Jamaican. The length on the palate is almost zero. The price matches the product. Rather basic, even very basic.
