Coffee hits you first — strong, roasted, almost like a mocha macchiato — backed by dark chocolate and a menthol edge. This is a spiced Cuban rum built around real coffee, not the vanilla-and-ginger supermarket stuff, and members appreciate that. At first, it reveals a very sweet note, almost reminiscent of a coffee liqueur with vanilla, then becomes a bit more bitter and alcoholic over time, and shows slight woody notes in the finish, although it only lingers briefly on the palate.

When opening the bottle, you already get a smell of coffee in the nose. When you go deeper into the glass, you also smell light wood as well as caramel and vanilla notes. The taste is also strongly influenced by coffee and resembles the smell. The finish is personally too strongly alcoholic and burning for me. The Black Tear is generally very flat and monotonous. The strong alcoholic taste somewhat prevents me from drinking it neat.

For the price, in my opinion, it's a good and well-balanced entry into the world of rum if someone is drawn to the flavor profile of dark chocolate and coffee.

The aroma and taste are dominated by coffee and cocoa, reminiscent of mocha macchiato or coffee liqueur beans with dark chocolate. Coffee and cocoa also remain in the finish, which is medium to long.

Distinct, quite natural coffee note, immediately upfront in the nose, on the palate spices with vanilla come first, then coffee, the impression is quite sweet, leading to a very long dry finish, very clearly coffee. Exciting, natural notes, but not a revelation neat, interesting as a mixer. Drinks: - Neat: 3.5/5
