It has the ideal aroma, unique texture, just the right amount of alcohol impact and a very harmonious balance of oak and tropical fruit notes. I was expecting a funky Fijian rum, but despite being CS, it's like drinking a well-blended navy rum. ---------------------------------------------- Nose: Banana, caramel, coconut, pear, similar to Appleton. Good amount of esters and nutty notes. Taste: strong textural character. Carbonated, powdery (grainy on the throat and tongue), very oaky as evidenced by the 16 year CS, with leather, minty herbs and tropical fruits on the finish. Finish: long and smooth, the powdery texture continues on the finish, which is unique and interesting, like sandy mud sliding across the surface.

Tried it at Bar Lamp. Nice and smooth, but this is not what I’m looking for in Fiji rums. The 2001 vintage is clearly superior in my opinion.
