Despite the "Gran Reserva" label, this is a soft, sweet Barbados pot-still rum that leans dessert more than depth. A sweet rum with a coconut note and a very slight woody touch, the taste doesn't last very long. It's great for mixing a very smooth Cuba Libre. It has now become my "everyday rum".

At first smell you notice sweet vanilla notes and caramel or confectionery. On the palate very smooth, slight hints of chocolate and nuts and a touch of spices. Finish relatively long and warm. Quite okay.

An acquaintance pulled a bottle out of the cupboard "I might have a rum you don't know yet" I read Ron and immediately braced myself for the worst. But it seems to be from Barbados. Well ... I don't have to have it neat, but according to the bottle owner it's good in tea. Somewhat strong alcoholic note after a bad column profile. Somewhat sweet with nuts, coconut, caramel, vanilla etc.

Aged 13 years, 3 cask finishes. It's okay, but nothing special. Smells typically of coconut and vanilla with little chocolate. At least the alcohol is well integrated and mild to drink. Quite okay for a Cuba Libre.

Sweet on the nose, chocolate, vanilla but relatively one-dimensional. Also sweet on the palate, very mild/round, caramel and honey. Finish rather short. Overall very round and a nice sipper. Apparently, this stuff comes from Neukölln.
