11.05.2008 Sanya in China is what Mallorca and Ibiza is to the Europeans. A beautiful place with long sandy beaches and mostly 5 star hotels. Notes. Beautiful dark colour. Intense nose with plum and earthy notes. Leather notes slowly evolve over time. The palate is warm and well balanced. Woody with lots of tannins as well as leather and dried fruit. The finish is very long and warm and dry with dried fruits and light marzipan.

I haven't tasted that many Guyana rums from this vintage, so it's hard to compare, but I really enjoyed them. Like a Pusser's, with roasted notes, coffee, salt, lots of roasted peanuts, green tea, cooked wine: the nose is already ultra-complex, loaded with heavy aromas, just the way I like them. On the palate, not much alcohol, but a good peppery kick on top of the coffee, typical notes and a little metallic edge. Not unpleasant, but marked nonetheless. Medium-length finish.
