A REV with a slightly higher rotation, which is somewhat unusual. Suits the bottling very well! Rather bitter and more woody than comparable bottlings. I like it though. The higher ABV gives the rum more complexity.

Recognizably more powerful than other REV bottlings from 1994 thanks to the higher alcohol content. The alcohol integration is well done, but the older age compared to other releases is also recognizable - the continental REVs are close to their zenith with over a quarter of a century of maturation: cask influences, spices and roasted aromas increasingly come to the fore. The pleasing REV profile with dried plum, leather and licorice notes becomes more complex, and with some oxidation the release opens up and gains accessibility. In direct comparison with other 1994 REVs, not on the throne, but still damn close - an excellent rum.

Yet another very nice 94 REV. More on the woody side with a sensation of sweetness black tea. Only some hits of dried fruits on the palate with an extra bit of bitterness on the finish. Delivers all you would ask for, nevertheless.

Delicious REV with a nice nose and an elegant bitterness on the palate - in the mouth less fruit emphasized but really nice and above all drinkable notes of bitterness. All in all, a REV that has many of the qualities I like about 1991 KFMs.

Another great REV with a slightly different profile than I am used to! Concentrated prune juice, lots of licorice and resin, much spicier, warmer and less floral. Almost has something of dark malt beer, boiled fig, dark chocolate, lemon peel and smoky strong beer, as well as lots of tree resin. Delicious! Alcohol perfectly integrated!

Very interesting in terms of the key data, as it is considerably more abv than its brothers. Unfortunately, this does not translate into more intense aromas as hoped. From memory, I would say that this bottling is somewhat more malty and chocolaty, but less (forest) fruity. Great bottling, a direct comparison would be very interesting. Many thanks @DomM

This is a heavy, dark kind of REV that needs its time! It's dark and complex, not a light spirit but of exquisite quality. The nose is already very intense with dried fruit, wood, black tea, licorice, and burnt caramel. These aromas continue throughout the entire tasting, excellent.

Beautiful bottling of the REV vintage. An example of how exquisite products can also be created with additives in rum. The bottling is complex, albeit slightly woody overall. The fruity notes are more restrained than others. But the black tea in particular is very present. Delicious. Crosstasting 2025 - Guyana REV 1994 Vintage After ten tastings, I can say that you can't go wrong with REV 1994. The vintage stands for consistently high quality and is a real flagship for Guyana rum. Versatile, deep and full of character. The basic markers (plum, leather, licorice, dark chocolate and black tea) can be found in varying degrees in all bottlings. Conclusion: The REV 1994 vintage shows the range of Demerara rum: from creamy-sweet to smoky-roasted to complex-dry. Despite the different styles of the bottlers, the core remains clearly recognizable. An outstanding year that demonstrates great class. However, the tasting was challenging, as the roasted aromas dominated the bouquet over time and I had to take breaks to appreciate the subtle differences. Nobilis REV 1994 More power due to the higher ABV, but still fresh. Black tea, wet wood and fruit in the foreground. Overall clean, but for me the weakest bottling in the comparison - slightly soapy and with plastic knots, possibly a sampling problem.

Nobilis has done a masterful job in selecting this Enmore. The nose is rich, deep and elegant. Dried fruits (prune, raisin) and plum are heavy and greedy, floral and herbaceous notes (on black tea) are more refreshing, while Demerara's dark profile fills the nostrils with noble woodiness, warm spices (licorice, vanilla, pepper), dark chocolate, coffee, roasted notes and leather. Cooked caramel and burnt sugar are also present. A real treat for the nostrils. On the palate, the attack is particularly dark. Roasted notes dominate, with dark chocolate, leather and coffee adding bitterness. Wood and spices (licorice, aniseed, pepper, chili, vanilla) and malt add warmth to the palate. It's very comforting, like an open fire on a cold winter's evening. Red fruits and prunes are as present as ever, alongside aromatic herbs, fragrant tea and flowers. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, but loses a little in aroma due to a rather pronounced bitterness and heat that dampen the senses. Tobacco, licorice, malt, spices, leather, wood, molasses, dark chocolate and coffee dominate, to the detriment of dried fruit and aromatic herbs. The profile is nonetheless charming, complex and warm. A very dark Enmore, which masterfully plays with the limits of ageing without losing its superb character.

the Nobilis 94 Enmore REV / 28 yo competes against the TRC 94 Enmore REV / 29 yo. The higher ABV of the Nobilis is definitely noticeable, but not distracting. Both are nicely balanced, with the typical markers of dried fruit (prune), tobacco, malt, herbs. The TRC comes across a bit more red currant. Probably due to the higher ABV, the Nobilis still seems a bit more sweet-caramel, likewise on the palate. Both top, but the TRC I like (today) still a nuance better.

Had to be compared with the three TheRumCask bottlings from 94 and the Greenheart. Basically a very good rum, but unfortunately lacks that certain something extra in contrast to the other bottlings. Nevertheless at a very high level

Again a very tasty 1994 REV, with the typical notes of prune, chocolate, tea etc.. A lot of wood this time, just OK for me. Behind the wood, the Nobilis still shows enough sweetness. The zenith of the 1994 REVs has probably been reached, unless you like licking burnt wood. Addendum, REV tasting of the Franconian Tasting Gang November 2024: the REV with the most herbs and slightly less dried fruit on the nose today. Also very, very slight notes of glue or solvent on the nose. I like it better today than last time.

#5521 01.08.2025 Running through some samples at home while listening to a Tomorrowland 2025 playlist. Nose Balanced, wood, light roasted, plum, light anise, light earthy, faint tar, faint smoke, light leather, light mint. Palate Oily, wood, faint smoke, dried fruit, light plum, faint coffee, light herbal, light tea, light tar, faint salt, light medicinal. Finish Long, wood, roasted, light tar, light mint, light coffee, light leather. Empty glass Light leather, dried fruit, light mint, light medicinal, citrus, licorice.

A little comparison of two, 28yo REV... that will be nice 🥰. Here's the second one, from Nobilis:Nose: a bit more restrained at the start than the Greenheart, even if this one has more %. Then it comes around though. Again, nicely complex, full-bodied and round. Spicy-woody-roasty with neat sour molasses and licorice and again, lightly delicious Maggi. Soft, salty caramel and dark, soft prune. Super pleasant. 9.2Palate: oh how nice. Intense, complex, powerful and round. Sourly bitter at first, but totally pleasant, then toasty-malty-woody and charred. Lots of tart licoricey molasses and chocolate with mocha. All of this with the elevated ABV is a mega total package. 9.4There you go again saying that sugar couleur or rum caramel has no impact on flavor... REVs or old Demeraras at all tell me otherwise. But I do like this. Very much!!!

9,1:On the nose, dried fruits like prunes and molasses with black tea, tobacco, roasted wood notes with leather, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, slightly spicy with coppery patina, bump into our nosetrils, dark. On aeration, an umami might be recognized, licorice, more dried fruits with raisins, figs, then citrus and red fruits, strong vegetal aspect of this rum(celery), also a bit floral, as the wood is charred, nutty with walnuts, all in perfect balance. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is dark with prunes, black tea and tobacco, charred, smoky wood notes, especially burnt sugar, leather and malty, with bitter, vegetal molasses and strong licorice, a bit coppery. After resting the rum, dried apricots arise, faint caramel and dark chocolate. 8,9:The finish is round, long, dark, slightly tannic, mostly with the same notes as on palate, with crunchy bread and a sap as an addition..

For me, the winner of the small 94 REV blind tasting. Although the slightly higher ABV is noticeable on the nose at first, it disappears after a longer standing time and makes room for licorice, chocolate, molasses, dried plum, caramel and spices. Super fat and oily on the palate, really good! Brings across the classic profile intensively and stands out slightly from the competition. Really fun!

What a great Enmore! How good does this rum taste!? The nose is very complex and dark. I get lots of warm wood, dried plum, roasted notes, licorice, dried fruits, burnt sugar, and dark chocolate. Leather, tobacco, and raisins are perfectly intertwined, creating a beautiful overall picture. The palate is powerful and multi-layered. Again wood, dried plum, licorice, roasted notes, dark chocolate, dried fig, and burnt caramel. Then comes a malty note, followed by some smoke, ending in a pleasant black tea/fruit tea. Very complex with enormous depth. The brilliant and very long finish starts with the flavors from the palate and is also characterized by great espresso notes. Again very complex with this dark and deep spiciness. Extremely delicious!! Exactly my kind of world! Many thanks to @MrRumantic for this great sample! 😃

The high alcohol content noticeably benefits this bottling, giving it a lot more punch and volume on the tongue! The nose needs some time to develop, probably also because of the alcohol. After 20-30 minutes, I get the first tropical notes on the tongue. Until then, the rum becomes rounder and finer, no longer so sharp. It initially feels clear and edgy, fresh, with light pencil notes mixed with a warm spiciness of herbs and burnt sugar. On the palate, a nice warmth, well-integrated alcohol, Demerara punch with a slightly bitter touch like pencil lead, dark fruits towards the end, then chocolate and coffee aromas leading to fresh malt, and in the final finish a nice spiciness with licorice. Great REV 1994!

This rum has a beautiful and complex profile with dark flavors like dried fruit, wood, leather, coffee, and tobacco. There is also a refreshing note in the finish reminiscent of mint tea, which keeps it from feeling too heavy. I appreciate that it is not overpowered by molasses, as can sometimes happen with REV. Overall, it is a fantastic rum: rich, layered, and highly enjoyable.

After some additional tastings of this gem, and as my rum experience evolves - I had to reevaluate the score. Dark, complex, round, opulent. High abv perfectly integrated. Notes of wood, leather, salty caramel, dark chocolate, licorice, fruits (dried plums and figs). Some bitterness is present, but not excessive. Molasses. Oily. You can feel the years it has spent in a cask. Once again I would like to emphasise the complexity of this rum. For special occasions and specific moods. Only downside remains the price, but nevertheless - excellent rum. One additional note - you need to leave this in the glass for some time. No water needed. Just patience and right mood. Edit: 1994 is definitely my year. And this release, which was my first REV - remains the best. 96/100

Compared to my benchmark REV 1994, the Nobilis is somewhat less complex. But I like it when the 94 bottlings have less sweetness. This bottling has woody, bitter and roasted notes. It is also slightly fruity (plum), licorice root and a harmonious sweetness.

05/10/24: tasted @ Salon du Rhum 2024 in Spa. Very tasty '94 REV. Dark, woody, licorice, bitter... It's so tasty that I don't even mind the added colouring. I adore this style of rum and would love to add something like this to the collection!

Nice and strong Enmore REV 1994, lightly sour ... Enmore - drive distiller, now just a functional still. Probably the only wooden still in the world that is very popular. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.

Joa, solid. With 57.9% for the vintage comparatively much alcohol, but this (unfortunately) does not translate into more intensity. Rather, a slight schnapps note resonates. In direct comparison with the FRC, he can still keep up in the nose - even marginally better, but falls on the palate easily 2 points behind. 100€ more expensive than the FRC, which does not matter for the Berwertung, but I know which I would buy: not this one.

Salon Du Rhum 2024 Very nice rum. Yet has something medical in it so it comes down to personal taste if you like this one. It is something special though! Sipping this again. One of the most 'darker' rums i ever had. Although its strong in flavours and real quality, it does not evolve for me.

It needs at least 10 to 15 minutes to breathe to fully open up. On the nose, it presents itself powerful, deep, and immediately captivating. An intense, dark wall of aromas flows from the glass. Dominant are heavy molasses sweetness, followed by the typical Demerara character: smoke, damp tobacco leaf, leather, and polished mahogany wood. Behind that, ripe, dried fruits unfold like prunes, raisins, and sultanas, perfectly balanced with warm spices like cinnamon, cloves, and a hint of nutmeg. The ABV is perfectly integrated; the aromas harmonize spot on. On the palate, it feels extremely viscous, creamy, and almost chewably thick in texture. The rum literally explodes in the mouth. At first, there’s an opulent mouthfeel with notes of dark chocolate, heavily roasted coffee beans, and burnt caramel. Immediately follows the spicy, historic wood note of the Versailles style: a fine, noble bitterness of old oak wood, paired with a mineral, almost oily smokiness. On the second sip, the fruit components come forward more strongly—rum-soaked pot fruits and dark forest berries, rounded off by a fine licorice root note. The finish is phenomenally long, warming, and infinitely deep. It lingers on the palate for what feels like minutes. What remains is a noble combination of dry oak wood, dark cocoa, finest cigar smoke, and a subtle, sticky residual sweetness of molasses. Even after emptying the glass, an intense scent of exotic spices and heavy wood lingers in the room. A fantastic 94 REV.!

Intense rum with a lot of cask influence. The higher alcohol content gives it a very full body with a nice warmth. The nose is excellent. A great mix of cask aromas, fruit, and cough syrup. On the palate, lots of cask influence with strong dark notes. Malt, licorice, and herbs. The finish is dry, bitter, and long. I really like it and for about €300, a great dram.
