31.08.2025 Retasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. -------------- #4963 30.08.2024-01.09.2024 Had a great time both before and after the event. Friday was opening party on a boat with Dirk and Saturday and Sunday meeting up with new and old friends Nose Wood, roasted, fruits, dried fruit, light citrus, faint herbal, light caramel, faint coffee. Palate Wood, roasted, light coffee, raisin, light citrus, light herbal, faint medicinal, light caramel, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, light coffee, faint chocolate, spice, light herbal.

30-08-2025 - Rate 5.8 German Rum Festival 3rd Chairman’s Reserve bottle taster today. None of them did very well. Have tasted way better Chairman’s then these 3. Sorry, but they weren’t up there today.

A rum tasted at the GRF in 2025 at the Chairman’s Reserve tasting. A soft but complex nose with young wood, oak, vegetal notes, and a Foursquare side with coconut. The palate entry is woody with coconut, dried fruits, honey, spices, and citrus. The finish is rather long with spices and woodiness. The Master Selection series comes from a single still and sometimes from a single cask.

Village'25 Nuremberg trade fair review There's not much to say about the Chairman's bottlings. The quality is generally quite high and the tropical storage at the price called is just great.

A good Chairman with a typical profile that is well suited to rum drinkers who want to move away from entry-level rums. Mainly because the percentages are rather reduced, this rum does not have an overwhelming dryness and sharpness on the palate like some other Chairman. Certainly better than the standard bottlings from this distillery.

Beautiful rum. Lots of sweetish glue on the nose, followed by fruits such as peach and dry planty notes. Nice sweetness on the palate and overall similar to the nose. Drier on the finish. Quite drinkable and complex at the same time.

Trade fair review: We're getting better. Nice caramel, wood, and dried fruit aromas. No longer comparable to the blends. Alcohol very well integrated; higher ABV wouldn't have worked. I like it a lot. Great value for money.

Exhibition review Village Nuremberg 2025 A little young and still alcoholic for a 100% Coffey. Simply not quite round yet. Peppery notes are interspersed with wood, vanilla and honey. Not quite my cup of tea.

Trade fair tasting Chairman's Reserve Tasting GRF 2026. So, a short review. On the nose round and moderate. Honey, light wood and fruity notes. Also nicely round on the palate. Flavors of mint, spice and a certain fruitiness. Everything feels soft due to the reduction. The finish surprisingly long on the palate flavors. For me on the same level as the regular Chairman's Reserve.

Tasted at The Village Fair 2026. Another nice Chairmans Reserve. The quality is always high for the price. Nose and taste of vanilla, wood, and a certain fruitiness. Subtle chewing and spicy notes join in. So far, no Chairmans has disappointed.

Ein schöner Rum zum täglichen Verzehr. Ähnlich zu Mount Gay XO. Kommt mit ordentlich Trockenfrüchte daher und mit Notesn von Karamell, Vanille, Leder/Fass und Röstaromen. Der Alkohol ist schon eingebunden und die 46% transportieren den Geschmack sehr schön.

The nose is gourmand but not exuberant. It smells like natural caramel, not the 'vanilla caramel flan' kind from Pusser's rum. After 15 minutes of airing, it starts to reveal hazelnut, toasted bread. The palate is quite soft. Its 46 degrees are perfectly suited, very well integrated. The more sips pass, the more I move from the somewhat cliché notes of 'vanilla, dried fruit' to something more complex, dirtier, and saltier. The finish is quite discreet but quite long in the end. It's surprising. I'd say 'iodine.' Overall, a rum I find well positioned at 45/50 euros. Not my thing. A rum I took for my guests who don't "really like" rum that much. Not a rum I enjoy drinking alone; but a rum I offer to guests I want to introduce to rum, made for them, not boring, more complex than it seems, and I can easily serve it to accompany them. Not my thing, but a good rum in the 50/60 range. It will accompany beginners and more initiated ones.
