Famille Ricci OVNI 5

Here's the twist: this old, cask-strength blend leans harder on chocolate and wood than you'd expect from a 22–31 year bottling. There's tobacco, coffee, a cool minty edge and soft caramel underneath. Well-liked overall, but several members feel the St. Lucia (T.D.L.) share pushes everything else into the background — and one finds the alcohol not fully tucked in.

How does Famille Ricci OVNI 5 taste?

Aggregated from 11 community reviews.

Old cask-strength blend, chocolate and wood led Genuinely liked, with a real caveat: some find it too straight and too chocolate-driven, and the T.D.L. component dominates the blend more than a few would want.

Perfect for

sippers who like old, wood-and-cocoa blends

Less suitable for

Sehr guter Blend, allerdings kommt er nicht an OVNI 2 ran. Für meinen Geschmack etwas zu viel Column-Anteil.

For a blend, the T.D.L part is already very present here and pushes everything else a little too much into the background, which is a bit of a shame. There are better blends from the Ricci family. When I first sniffed it and took my first sip, I thought it was a pure T.D.L.. I also think that the alcohol is not really well integrated.

Visit to Ricci. Just like last time, just great: 14 rums tasted, 2 hours with us, only top-flight quality rums like this UFO! Man, it's good... Hyper-complete, complex, gourmand and balanced!

Dégusté lors d un important line up, notes assez brèves. Tres joli nez. Apres un peu de repos, le ste Lucie est dominant. A goûter a nouveau pour confirmer.

Aged rum

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 16,000 Rums

Aged rum is where the spirit earns its complexity. In a tropical warehouse a barrel loses 6 to 10 percent of its contents to evaporation every year, which is why an 8-year Caribbean rum can taste deeper than a 20-year Scotch. This page gathers every rum on RumX that has spent real time in wood, with community ratings to separate the genuinely mature from the merely dark.
