Here's the surprise: this Cihuatán drinks more like an agricole than a soft Central American rum. Green apple (a few tasters name Granny Smith), fresh herbs and green tea lead, with vanilla, toasted coconut and a little chocolate underneath. The clean distillate is pleasant but light-bodied, and at 46.3% the alcohol never quite settles in.

Yeah, I like this rum. On the nose it comes across nicely fresh and fruity. On the palate, however, it is rather spicy. Also, a slight spiciness can be tasted and you can also taste some pastry. Delicious.

Well, what can you say about this bottling? I don't find it really good, but it's not bad either. More of a nondescript rum that you don't really need to have in your glass, you really don't miss anything here unfortunately. Fair for the price though.

Had this bottle on the shelf for a long time and someone wanted a sample so I opened it. Lots of herbs, slight bitterness. I like the apple notes and the slightly chocolaty finish. Update 5.5.24: Still a good drinkable rum, alcohol could be a bit better integrated at this strength. Recommended if you want to escape from the eternal Jamaica Guyana Trinidad pendulum to other flavor regions

7,9:On the nose, the first impression we get is very pleasant with toasted coconut, an apple, woody with vanilla, roasted notes like nuts, burnt sugar and toffee, then dried fruits like apricots and raisins. On aeration molasses is more obvious, herbaceous, with some tea, yellow fruits from American oak, citrus, maple, spices like cinnamon, nutmeg. 7,6:On the palate, the attack is fruity, woody, with strong barrel touch, as we taste toasted coconut, yellow fruits, apples, dried fruits and banana, citrus with lemon peel.The wood is roasted with pastry, caramelized sugar, nuts, leather, a bit smoky, spicy with vanilla, as molasses is herbaceous, earthy with tobacco, musty. Defintely metallic notes accompany our tasting subtly. 7,5:The finish is medium long, sweet with maple, dry, spicy with variety of wood notes, grassy and herbaceous, green, earthy, fruity with yellow fruits, coconut, green apple.. Unusually herbal and apple-like (green Granny Smith) for a Spaniard. But these typical light smoke, nut and caramel notes can also be found here, as is often the case with El Salvador, but here with a much more herbal touch! Overall really very complex and exciting to drink. And you can't go wrong for the money it cost back then anyway! ♥️

Fortunately, the bourbon cask contributed some appealing aromas, because without the toasty base notes of caramel, vanilla, and a hint of coconut, there wouldn't be much going on here. The distillate itself is very clean and fresh, but apart from some herbal notes and a light citrus-apple accompaniment, rather insignificant. Quite pleasant to drink, but nothing more.

Vanilla and herbs dominate on the nose, you hardly notice the alcohol here. In the mouth, the herbs come out stronger again and leave vanilla and wood in the background. The alcohol is not strong here but still not well integrated. On the finish, notes of chocolate and coffee. I found it quite mild in taste from start to finish.

Yesterday a very digestible rum, nothing special. In the smell you rather think a few fruity aromas come through. In taste, however, the herbs are very dominant. Alcohol in my opinion not perfectly integrated.

Good value for money, you can't go too wrong and not much right either. Hints of Agricole through grassy herbal notes. You can sip it every now and then for sure. Damn, when will the 200 characters finally be full! Now!

A quick taste before the bottlekill 😉 Conclusion, in line with the price. 😀 It's not round, but very sharp for the few percentages, both on the nose and on the palate. Once the spiciness has faded a little, fresh floral and spicy aromas appear. The palate is also spicy at first, then lots of wood, bitter almond, roasted aromas and a certain fresh note. All with a rather thin mouthfeel and a bitter, woody finish.

Fresh fruity, sour cherry, somewhat sweet-lemony, maybe a tiny bit herbal or green tea. Pleasant on the nose. Wow, surprisingly different on the palate. Rather a bit musty, but in a positive way. Here the herbal note comes through even more. A quite pleasant sweetness comes in. Everything unfolds into green tea, slightly bitter but also somewhat sweet and green. I like it.

Good and honest rum in the Spanish style. Probably stands out mainly due to its price/performance ratio (as you are used to from RA) and is especially suitable for beginners.

Still a bit reserved on the nose, vanilla and herbal freshness come on the palate with a certain sweetness, chocolate notes and citrus fruits added. A bit thin, but I like it.
