The Whisky Jury Hampden The Many Faces of Rum C<>H 2007
Sipped neat with time to open, this is a classic continental Hampden: pineapple everywhere, ester and glue on the nose, then overripe tropical fruit, marzipan and buttery biscuit dough. Several tasters call out a sharp fruity acidity, and at 62.3% cask strength it drinks hot and wild. A few say the 15 years rounds it out; others still find the sour, chemical edge a lot.
The community says- Bright pineapple funk
- Buttery marzipan notes
- But: Sharp acidity

RumX Advent Calendar Day 5 Nose ... Yeaaaaa this is something for me. Full power ester glue tropical, butyric acid, fruits (pineapple, banana papaya mango) marzipan... wonderful 😁 On the palate very similar to the nose a young savage with a lot of power super fruity with nice marzipan pastry. Really delicious ... Long fruity and slightly bitter finish.

Little bit sour Hampden profile ... Hampden, legendary Jamaican distillery, which besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery you can feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die"

Edit: had another blind look at RumX Advent calendar 2024 -5. I was almost sure I had recognized a DOK here. But well, I guess I was wrong. All in all, I wouldn't have given him any more points. Crosstasting C◇H 1. kill devil 2. FRC C◇H 3. the Duchess 4. TBRC Frankenstein 5. the Whisky Jury Edit: had it on the calendar again today and tested it against the FRC JMC. But again, for me it remains the weakest 2007 of the C◇H.

RumX Advent December 5, 2023 Was blind at a DOK. Quite brutal and wild. Nice oily Hampden. Characterized by citrus, puffed rice and tropical fruits. The high esters make themselves felt in the acidity. A very good bottling. Edit: Lemon marmalade, glue in the aftertaste, overall tasty but already a brutal story. Not for me every day, yet Jamaica-Hampden DNA.

Very horny bottling. The oldest bottled HD 2007 so far.Price also absolutely fair for a 15 year old Hampden in 0.7.In the nose the typical HD 2007er C<>H flavors. On the palate you notice the further maturation and he is actually slightly different from the 2007s that I know. The Flensburg JMC remains for me the reference of the continental HD 2007, but super stuff the TWJ.For me 87/100

the whiskey jury must prove against the FRC JMC HD 2007,. The first thing that stands out is that the WJ is a bit darker - I attribute that to the slightly longer cask maturity, 15 years at the WJ vs. the 12 years at the FRC. But the difference is also noticeable on the nose, the WJ seems a bit rounder, more like sour cream, vanilla cakes and tropical fruit salad. The FRC still comes across a bit more aggressive (and that's even though the bottle has been open for over 2 years now), more on fermented citrus. Also on the palate, the FRC just comes across even more brute (but it also has a higher ABV). Conclusion: really good what WJ has bottled, but the C<>H quintessence comes to the FRC just a little more clearly to the fore.

RumX Advent calendar 05.12.2023 Pure glue. A soft, oily high-ester Jamaican with a nice marzipan note, but also somehow a bit unruly, not my preferred HD.

Very good hampden. No surprise on this profile. Very good

Really very nice bright fruit. Pineapple is in the air. Nice that he does not bring a too high ester mark. Alcohol is almost not to be felt.In the mouth then again much bright fruit.Really very tasty 😃Thank you to Christian for the sample !!!!

RumX Calendar 2024 Day 5: Rotten pineapple, astringent, chemicals, sweetness, fruit, acidity, butter cookies. Unmistakable Hampden high ester, guessing C<>H. Still quite wild, don't think too old. Maybe 2006? But I really like it!
Review by Righrum
High Ester, joung Hampden. The hard part here is guessing the age and the mark. I'd say a C<>H with a pretty long ageing 10

RumX Advent calendar Day 5. Here we have a Jamaican in the glass. Almost unmistakable nose, which consists of ester and tropical fruits like pineapple. On the palate, it comes across funky, alongside the ester and tropical fruits.

Bleibt einfach genau mein Geschmack. Lecker 😋!
Review by Thunderbird
A great 2007, no longer quite as funky as the younger bottlings, rather a bit more adult, but really good. Especially in the finish it shows more of the woody spicy side!
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Really really good 2007 Hampden! I would have guessed blind that it was a 2009 DOK because of the buttery esters and fruit acidity. Here everything comes together that you expect from a good Hampden: roasted almonds, marzipan, butter cookies, overripe sweet and sour tropical fruits like papaya, pineapple and passion fruit, slightly salty notes reminiscent of olive brine and salted peanuts, and burnt caramel. Super delicious!😍🇯🇲

Next up is number five from the Rumx calendar. This Hampden tastes very ester-y again but also very fruity... I'd say nasty rum has succeeded again and is simply recommended.
Review by Boletus
Day 5 of the RumX advent calendar: The scent clearly shows where the journey in the mouth will go. Intense esters with refreshing acidity transform into overripe, fermented tropical fruits, ultimately landing in a buttery cookie dough with anise and marzipan. An exquisite ester bomb!
Review by Jakob
Nice Hampden at a great level, only the unique selling point is missing. But that's all there is to criticize about the release, very good rum.

The whole the smell of the division in the room and now finally in the glass. I'm happy to distribute such a great bottling in the community. Maybe one or the other makes his bottle then but still on. Would be a shame otherwise. High Ester as it stands in the book. And the whole wonderfully drinkable. Nice and fruity with a slight spiciness. Opens relatively quickly in the glass. A bit of depth is missing but it probably needs a few more years in the barrel. We look forward to more tastings until then 😋

Very nice Hampden. The mark is rather loaded with esters, no doubt about the origin! Well-ripe fruit, esters. Funky. Solvents. Really nice. Only problem for me: the ABV a bit too high.
Review by Filip Šikula
In the nose, one could mistake Hampden for New Yarmouth. The buttery creamy scent really pleases me and I was looking forward to tasting. The first impression was completely unexpected, no cream, just fruit. Explosion of fruit. In the finish, the cream finally appears. Great Hampden. Great!!

RumX Advent Calendar 2024, door number 5. Right when opening the sample, a clear High Ester profile reveals itself. With lots of fruit, solvents, esters, almonds, spice... and also some acidity. Smells like Hampden. Spontaneously oscillating between C<>H and DOK. Continental aged, 10 years+, 60%. Rum grape nut says hello... I guess DOK.

#4442 31.10.2023 This is a really nice rum. We'll balanced once rested for 15+ minutes. Fruity profile with a nice spicy touch. Medium ester profile and an oily well balanced palate. The finish is very long and warm/spicy. The empty glass has some light glue and roasted nuts.
Review by Manuel
RumX Advent Calendar 2024: No. 5 Very clear profile with ester-rich influences on the nose and taste. Must be a rum from Jamaica. Also nicely fruity and funky. I like it very much because the alcohol is well integrated.
Review by Banana Joe
Wow, this rum hits like a bomb. Definitely Jamaica DOK. Think 2009. This buttery cookie dough aroma is unique. Hard to say which one, but I'm guessing RX145. Edit: Well, at least it's Hampden. Glad to still have a bottle of it.
Review by kondgab
The 2007 C<>H bottling is one of my favorites, delivering pure Jamaican funk with bold esters. It bursts with tropical fruit flavors, especially pineapple. The finish is long, spicy, and woody, with great depth and warmth.
Review by Agricoler
Tag 5 RumX Adventskalender Klassischer kontinentaler Hampden. Könnte eine C<>H sein. 2007er wahrscheinlich.
Review by Léo Delek
Ripe pineapple on the nose with solvents that calm down gradually with aeration but remain quite present. On the palate, I get peach and pineapple returning and blackberry in strength. All with a persistent smokiness.
Review by Piotr Ignasiak
RX Advent day 5 The esters hit you right away when pouring with buttermilk. On palate it's pretty wild even after a good rest. Not as round as you would get with a full tropical aging I presume.
Review by Stuesch
Dreamlike rum! Complex in profile and incredibly smooth. Top representative of the 2007 HD, had to admit defeat in the tasting only the FRC 2007.
Review by JFehr
Nice lots of pineapple on the nose and palate, but a bit too sour for me.
Review by primus
RumX Advent Calendar 2024 Door 5 On the nose lots of fruit, but hard to identify. A bit funky, somewhat phenolic like Clairins. On the palate very intense, fruity until the end, plus cask influence and a nice sweetness, maybe something vanilla-like. Pretty cool drop. So far the most interesting door!
Review by Schnubbii
Very ester-fruity on the nose, with some vanilla. On the palate also very fruity, but at the same time some vanilla too. Quite round and balanced, the alcohol is well integrated. For me, the aroma profile goes quite in the direction of WIRD. The finish is medium length with vanilla and tropical fruits, with vanilla lasting the longest. I guess a mid-aged low to mid ester WIRD, possibly a Virgin Oak cask was involved.
Review by Buddudharma
RumX Advent calendar 05.12.23: I'm also more with RX13408, no difference can be seen in direct color comparison. The relatively high astringency would also speak for DOK for me... Nice Hampden with classic profile. Intensity is high without being overwhelming.
Review by Lot-NAS
Calendar #5, this time not blind. To keep it short: A great 2007 HD and one of the best with this Mark / year.
Review by Djehey
RumX Advent Calendar 5 Well, we're clearly on the bomb esters+fruits. Tasting it blind, I hesitated between Hampden and Savanna Herr for the harlequin candy vibe. You gotta like it. For me, it's too much, I prefer them more controlled. I'd say it has 6 to 8 years of tropical aging and over 60° alcohol.
Review by Henry Davies
A cracking nose, full of overripe fruit, with bananas, mango, and some sweet candied fruit at the end. It’s a big full on mouth, a little bit unbalanced, pineapple and sour cherries. The finish is complex but the sour cherry notes overpower a bit. Brings salty and briney notes with glue and young wood. It’s a great 2007 Hampden, just not the best I have tried.

Nose: Incredible bright. Pineapple, tropical fruits, esters, tar, leather, ginger, citrus. Wow!!! It's awesome. Palate: So ballance & bright. Sour, creamy, dry. Esters, funky style, Pineapple, tropic fruits, sweet apples, some rubber, wax & Sulphur. Amazing. It so tasty !!! Delicious. Aftertaste: looooong & so fruity. This Pineapple everywhere. Some glue, esters, wax, leather & little bit of saltines. It's absolutely fantastic. Very, very, very tasting. I absolutely love this one !

Although i'm not the biggest fan of Jamaican rums i really liked the very fruity taste af this one. The nose was ok. The sample was given by the store owner after a Compagnie des Indes masterclass. So i have to admit that my tastebuds were already a bit corrupted 😅
Review by Michal S
Very similar Hampden bomb like Flensburg 2007, a bit lower proof. Esters and overripe tropical fruit dominate nose and palate, excellent Jamaican banger for winter evenings.
Review by Dris
Understated funk for a c<>h. Well aged kokonut-bomb. Easy drinking and rounded.
Review by PRV
Review by Alexander Rasch
I find it very wild and would guess a young Hampden. Possibly an HGML. It becomes rounder over time in the glass. Many typical markers. Definitely continental without finish. I like it very much even though it could be a bit more balanced and the alcohol takes a long time to stop stinging.
Review by El Peludo
