Anyone who likes an aged agricole that leans wood and dark fruit over grass will feel at home here. Almost 15 years in cask pushes it toward candied orange, plum, dried fruit, vanilla and dark chocolate, with a mocha, "café au lait" edge a few tasters caught. The 47.6% sits well integrated. A couple find the tannins slightly drying and the body could be oilier.

Great Agricole! Not so much on the grassy side, but rather on the woody side, almost earthy and deep. Alcohol very well integrated. Despite the almost unmanageable number of different bottlings, HSE simply has it!

Considering the price, I was expecting something more concentrated, but this is a West Indian brut de fût, so it could have been a hell of a lot drier. In hindsight, it's a very good tasting rum, but not worth the price it's currently fetching on the net (from 250 to 550€)...

👃 Lots of candied fruits, citrus marmalade/blood orange, candied apricot, then soft spices (cinnamon, white pepper, clove). A beautiful sweet cane mixed with subtle woodiness, it's concentrated. Then a little briny touch on the green olive from the ham cake, salty and indulgent. A touch of figs too, a toasted/woody side. Complete and elegant. 😋 Surprising, malted barley, yeast, the prick of alcohol, pleasant though a bit disorienting. It's powerful, warm, heavy, you certainly feel at this moment the effect of the "copper mist" heating. The woodiness is present but very well integrated with all the flavors of the juice. Now, alcohol-soaked raisins evolving towards grandmother's black cherries soaked in brandy. Retro-olfaction: light sweet caramel, bitter dark chocolate, black coffee, hazelnuts and roasted nuts. ⛳ On the warm candied date, almost licorice, nutmeg, a beautiful noble woodiness, back to dark chocolate. 💡 A very beautiful agricole rum, almost 15 years old, both rustic, powerful and subtle.

Edit: Tasted again after a little oxidation, much better than I remembered. Lots of red fruit, cherry, nougat, some tannins that dry out a little but not too much, a background of menthol and blond tobacco. Top-notch! Perhaps the best rhum agricole I've tasted at home.

Tasting on a campside in the south of French. Big flavours in the nose. Somewhat acidic. Cherry. Port anf red wine. A bit whisky like too. Red fruits. Nectarine. Bigger than expected with this abv. Taste: very fruity. A bit artificial too. Chartreuse. Groene limonade (Dutch Reine Claude lemonade). Very different than I expected. Weird but nice. Sort of a blind tasting, because no internet here..might be a port cask or something. Challenging dram.

#6170 31.12.2025 Relaxing with some rums after dinner waiting for the big Bada boom at midnight 🎆 Nose Wood, light roasted, cherry, light coffee, dried fruit, anise, light sugarcane. Palate Round, wood, oily, light roasted, light floral, plum, dried fruit, light citrus, spice, faint chocolate. Finish Long and warm, wood, light roasted, faint grass, light chocolage, plum. Empty glass Chocolate, light cherry, anise, prunes.

Great bottling with a successful mix of discreet wood, slightly acidic, fresh and present heavy fruit, spices and slight bitterness. The alcohol strength also plays along wonderfully, the integration is excellent and despite the rather low strength, the aroma always remains concise without becoming too thin. Very good.

Nice rum, I haven't had many of this profile or HSE in my glass so far. The nose is very inviting. The taste reminds me a little of a good Armagnac somehow. As I usually prefer rums with a higher alcohol content nowadays, I have to admit that I really like this one with "only" 47.6%. Great rum. Thanks Chris2302, that was yours, wasn't it? I think this Agricole is far too good to try as a mixer.

Big caramelized woodiness balanced by tangy dried fruits. The plum ties it all together. I like it but... The texture could be richer. The tannins are a bit overwhelming and drying. A touch of freshness would have been welcome.

Compared to RX878 i feel this one is a bit out of balance. Still very good though. Very fruity and complex but the alcohol could have been integrated a bit better imo.

An ultra indulgent nose of stewed fruits and vanilla flan. A slightly less indulgent mouth with the arrival of incense, on one side cooked wine. Citrus brings a nice freshness that lasts long. Long finish on citrus, spices and caramel.

Fruity, woody, spicy. On the nose even more fruit than on the palate. Here the barrel definitely takes center stage, less so the typical grassy floral notes of Agricole. But that is to be expected with the long aging. Nice round old Agricole.

The nose gives off quite a toasted woodiness! I like it a lot! The fruits are light! On the palate, the alcohol is very well integrated, the wood is present but not too much, vanilla, coffee and a slight acidity at the entry on the palate! The finish is quite fresh and light.

Explosive and delicious nose! Great opening with crazy aromatics… Flambéed banana, roasted pineapple, fresh wood essence, vanilla, a bit of coconut and in the background even dried fruits, currants and a little cherry eau-de-vie. On the palate you find almost all these Caribbean fruit aromas, some well roasted and a more pronounced woody nuance. Less dried fruits and a bit less exuberance and depth. The length on the palate is unfortunately average, it leaves a tiny bit on the end. But it's a magnificent product which I regret not having been able to get a full bottle of…

On the nose always that impression of having a good molasses rum. Magnificent nose. Very beautiful palate on very ripe fruit, a bit tangy, well oaked. Pleasant length. Really a very nice agricole.
