Warehouse #1 MHOBA S.A.W. Cask Rum
Hay, straw and a big hit of citrus, with that funky ester edge a few tasters say reminds them of Jamaica. At 63.6% it runs hot and spicy, and there's a real divide: some get a clean fruity profile, others find a roasted, burnt-tobacco note that crowds out the freshness. Most agree it drinks better neat than watered down.
- Fresh citrus fruit
- Hay and honey
- Genuine ester funk

Funky, citrus-and-hay South African cask sipper Fresh, fruity South African pot-still rum that splits people: lovers get citrus, honey and hay, doubters find the roasty smoke flattens the fruit. Hot and clearly not for everyone.

Interesting flavours of forest honey and herbs going on. Better with original ABV than reduced with water.

#4651 09.03.2024 relaxing at home with some nice samples from Roberto. Nose Fresh, faint wood, fruits, sweet, ester, vegetal. Palate Spicy, sweet, light wood, faint smoke, fruity, ester, vegetal. Finish Long, spicy, citrus, light ester. Draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some glue, faint floral and light caramel notes.

Silnější rum z jižní Afriky. Ve vuni ta díla poznat není, převládá seno a tráva. Chuťově trochu drsnější. Za mne your rum

My first Mhoba. Aroma is very fruity, I noticed alcoholic scent. There is little bit of that FUNKY scent, which kind of reminds me rums from Jamaica, but there is a lot of hay/straw and fruity scents (citrusy and some sweet scent honey??). The taste is very similar to aroma. I really liked the straw/hay taste with combination of very pleasant warmth feeling. Taste is one big bang of fruity flavor (citrus). Finish is long and complete with that pleasant warmth feel, spicy and fruity. Definetly not a rum for everyone.

Fruity, light smoky smell that promises a lot, it unfortunately can not implement in the taste. Finish very short and flat. Perhaps more smoke would have improved the overall impression.
