Green olives and brine are the first thing that hits, not fruit or caramel — one taster even joked it smelled like someone had spat in the glass. This young Grenada agricole runs vegetal and salty, with sugarcane, truffle and cooked artichoke, then a little wood spice and coconut on the palate. Divisive by design; a couple of years' rest might round it out.

Very greenish in the smell. Vegetal. Young. Sugarcane juice. Agricole. In taste salty/brine. Waxy mouthfeel. Velvet. Honey. Pretty cool stuff. Olives. I really like the whole micro provenance information on the label. We will hear from Renegade more in the future I reckon.

#4818 17.08.2024 Tasting with Mads from Romhatten. This is also a retaste that I didn't have time to add. Nose Medium intense, Agricole, light wood, faint roasted, fruits, spice, light coconut. Palate Oily, medium intense, agricole, light grass, fruits, light citrus, light coconut, spice, faint wood. Finish Medium to long, warm, light roasted wood, light citrus, faint olive, light coconut, vanilla.

Der schlechteste heute. In der Nase hat man ganz stark Olive und für mich vergorene Früchte. Am Gaumen dann ebenfalls Olive und verlorene Früchte, sehr pflanzlich und nach Salz schmecken. Alkohol nicht gut eingebunden.

Der erste Schluck war schon hart an der Grenze. Sehr alkoholisch, pflanzlich, Olive in Salzlake und bisschen verbranntes Plastik. Er wird etwas besser wenn er bisschen Zeit im Glas bekommt. Aber auch nicht signifikant besser.

Nose caresses us with neat peppery spice paired with beautiful sugar cane sweetness On the palate a lot of coconut, neat oak, also much of the sugar cane Remains of the three in the finish the longest presentPreliminary conclusion. Far from perfection, the three rums are what they are. Studies, intermediate results. It is worthwhile to stay tuned and follow the distillery in its development. Great that we can experience something like this nowadays.👍

Pretty strange profile but really tasty, similar to some mhoba where despite being aged, the profile is close to an unaged rum at the nose, switching to more aged notes when drinking

Pickled, slightly salty olive on the nose. Somewhat sweet, most likely Kalamata olive. Some longer-lasting sugar cane. Behind these somewhat overpowering aromas, however, a pleasant spiciness also comes through: Vanilla, aniseed and cardamom. After a long time in the glass, the nose takes on something of English wine gums. Less intense in the mouth than expected, the aromas play better together here. Wood and brine are dominant, along with some fermented greens. The finish is mainly salty. Exciting rum but definitely not my preferred profile.

Renegade is definitely not my thing. A lactic smell, of hyper powerful fermentation and not really pleasant. Very vegetal. A little bit of cane.impression confirmed in mouth with a rum that becomes almost sickening.I did not like it.

A proper aroma makes me think of the wildness of Haitian rums or maybe Rivers. Sugar cane, olives, meaty saltiness, fruit. Taste-wise, it's riding a similar wave. On the finish, like the New Bacolet, the bitterness spoils my pleasure, but in this case it's milder.

My first Renegade rum. An experience, nose is forceful and unusual. Some elements of Clairin, but more raw olive, with a meaty undertone and some salt. The mouth is fairly well balanced and soft given ABV, more green olives and brine, some salty cured ham in the middle and a bit of warm spice on the exit. I’m a bit torn as interesting and trying to forge its own flavour but just not a complete rum as stands. Keen to try more in due course

Powerful truffle nose, followed by brine and a hint of iodine. The palate is much more gourmet, with vanilla and spices mixed with brine and truffle.

My first impression was as if someone had spit in my glass. Takes a lot of getting used to. The taste is better than it smells. Think he is just too young. A few years in a good barrel? Possibly what is good out of it. He has not convinced me now.

Smell very particular. A little chlorine, a little vinegar, a little fruit. If you let it stand a little it gets better. The taste is definitely better than the smell. Very fruity and mild. The chlorine vinegar note is too present for me, however.

A rum that leaves no one indifferent. You either like it or you don't, but as soon as you smell it, you sense that something unusual is going on. I'm not a big fan, but it's a nice change from time to time.

First full of cane and old vegetables, very green. After some breathing the nose is full of coocked artichoke. The oak is strong in the taste.

Unique distinct smell that i could recall even after a few hours. The taste is similar to the smell. Interesting rum to try due to the use of cane juice and the influence of the terroir. I think I would not sip it pure due to the unique taste. Would keep it as part of my rum library to let other people taste this unique rum. I would he interested what how it would taste if you mix it.

This really reminded me of Paranubes, but worse. It is with a lot of these young disitilleries: somehow there seems to be always olive. A very intense nose, but the alcohol Integration ist just terrible.
