LMDW New Grove Savoir Faire Single Cask (Conquer) 2008
Sipped neat at 55%, this drinks easy — the alcohol sits well integrated, so no water needed. Expect a fruit basket of yellow fruits, peach and citrus, with mint freshness cutting through roasted oak, caramel and chocolate. A few tasters clock a whiff of glue and rubber up front. Fully tropical-aged 14 years and, as several members note, an easy Mauritius one to like.

Arrived today and opened right away to compare the rum against RX20972 (Smuggler). And since I know New Grove fairly well, I would give all those who, like me, bought the rum blind and fear a bad purchase, in my opinion, a clean bill of health: good purchase at an almost unbeatable price. Where else nowadays do you get a decent, almost 15-year completely tropical-aged single cask for about 60 EUR on the primary market, which hardly anyone knows yet? Compared to the New Grove from Smuggler from the same distillation year but one year less in the cask and 5% lower ABV, the Conquer feels finer and more balanced and not so minty straight on, but tastes more like a balanced fruit basket with yellow and red fruits. The 55% alcohol is surprisingly better integrated than the 50% in the Smuggler. The higher rating depends on the day's form; today both rums are tied for me at 85 points. Conclusion: A real discovery - thanks to @Kaktus_Kontrafaktus.

Feels a bit like a cross between Agricole and Spanish style. Nice rum with a lovely aroma full of floral green notes. They also come through in the taste but not quite as clearly.

8,5:On the nose, glue, perhaps petrol hints, rubber, minty, grassy, vegetal molasses, roasted oak with chocolate, yellow fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the wood is resinous, spicy with allspice, brings burnt sugar, caramel, citrus and tropical fruits arise. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is fruity with tropical, citrus and yellow fruits, molasses is minty, herbaceous, fresh with tea, peppery, as the wood is roasted with caramel, chocolate, nuts, brown sugar, spicy with allspice, balanced. 8,5:The finish is long, dry, with roasted oak notes like caramel, chocolate, nuts, pastry, spicy, slightly minty molasses, grassy, earthy, floral, candied, sweet with honey and fruits like yellow, citrus. Edit:26.9.26

Taste of dark fruit, spices, cinnamon, nutmeg - Long and pleasant aftertaste of dried fruit and ripe fruit stimulates the taste experiences 😁👍

Lecker!

I have to admit that Mauritius is not necessarily my typical taste... However, there are always great new things to discover to really broaden your horizons. Here we have a New Grove Single Cask with a great fruity nose: peach, citrus fruits, brown sugar, a bit of mint—really delicious.

This Grays offers a nice interplay of fruits and spices. At first nose, you think of Armagnac. Fruit, spices, wood, yellow fruits, citrus fruits, burnt sugar, something roasted, tobacco, and still some vegetal notes. The spices, fruits, and roastiness continue on the palate. Caramel, oak, pepper, herbs, and tea provide a balanced complexity. The long and spicy-woody finish makes me think again of a herbal Trinidad or Armagnac. I get chocolate, spices, caramel, honey, roasted wood, tannins, mint, and candied fruits. This rum drinks really enjoyably thanks to good alcohol integration. Many thanks to dear @Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" for the gifted bottle 😃

Another hidden gem from Mauritius The nose is rich on tropical fruits, mango and caramelized banana, with a mint freshness that balances some woodiness. The palate is really consistent, just the fresh note is more evident and the wood brings into place some bitterness.

Nice Grays. Slight Spanish sweetness combined with fruity aromas and subtle mint. Not exceptionally complex, but everything very harmonious. For the price around 60€ not just a recommendation, but a real price/enjoyment hit.

Richtig gut! Tropische Noten, Pfirsich, Minze.
