A visit to the Takamaka distillery is worth it! During the pandemic, the distillery, besides its high-quality pot still using fresh cane juice from the Seychelles in very small quantities, built a second pillar with a triple column still that works with molasses from abroad (Mauritius). This allows continuous large-scale production, catering to the cocktail and beginner segment. The triple distillation produces a very neutral rum, which is then flavored (e.g., fruit essences, cinnamon, vanilla, sometimes also with coloring and sugar). In this segment, this rum stands out because it was aged in a special process with wood fibers from a bourbon barrel.

Surprising intensity on the nose given the low ABV and (presumed) young age. Quite some wood with caramel and vanilla with (dried) apricots. Pretty good. On the palate also more interesting than some contenders in the category. Has enough character to add to a nicely crafted drink. Caramel, some wood and citrus fruits.

Ce rhum est trop doux à mon goût mais il est fruité et agréable en bouche . Il lui manque du punch . Par contre , il peut être un bon rhum pour ceux qui découvre le rhum vieux.
