Romdeluxe New Yarmouth Wild Series Rum Jamaica No. 39 NYE/WK 2019
One member just called it "a Jamaica rum on steroids" and that's the whole story. Massive glue and ester, overripe tropical fruit, and a marzipan note that lingers, all wrapped in a nearly 85% punch. Most tasters are amazed the alcohol sits as well as it does, but plenty wish it had spent longer in oak — it's young and wild, not refined.

This is a retasting with the RumX guys. ----- This is a Jamaica rum on steroids, not only because of the ABV, but also the profile itself. Many will probably need to add water because it's like a hammer of flavours. Make sure to rest it for a good while or it will bite, shred and spit you out in a flash. From pouring the nose already reveals where it's from and it just gets better from there. A very intense and complex rum with an oily touch to the palate. Nice fruitiness and I really like the marzipan note in there. Price to quality is pretty good 😊

Au nez, c'est résineux, acide et fruité sur des arômes extrêmement sur mûris. De la colle, du caramel et de la vanille complète ce bouquet aromatique. On est dans l'extrême, le nez est intense, très riche et concentré. C’est beau. On reste dans les extrêmes sur la bouche, puisqu’elle est, elle aussi, extrêmement intense. L'attaque est franche avec ses 84.7% au compteur. On retrouve un profil plus lourd et huileux. Le joli fruité du nez est toujours présent ainsi que de la pâte d’amande. La finale, en plus d’être très longue, déboussole sur des notes empyreumatiques et d'épices extrêmes. Quelle expérience ! Clairement pas pour les cœurs fragiles, parce que c’est quand même drôlement intense. Mais après une dégustation de haut vol comme celle-ci (il s’agissait du 9ème rhum de la soirée), quoi de plus normal que d’affronter positivement cet OVNI. Incroyable dégustation (que ce soit la quantité et la qualité). Merci Romdeluxe et les anarchystes (Salva et Alain) de nous avoir organisé cette masterclass topissime.

Was für ein Biest, aber im positiven Sinne! Die Nase besticht mit Klebstoff, Ester, Marzipan und Vanille; das alles sehr ausgeprägt! Am Gaumen zieht sich sofort alles zusammen, was bei dem Alkoholvolumen natürlich ist. Anschließend verteilt er sich ölig, Ester, Klebstoff breiten sich aus und werden anschließend von einer Marzipansüsse und leichten Holzigkeit abgelöst. Eine doch recht merkliche saure Note setzt sich ebenfalls durch. All das in einer kräftigen Intensität. Der Abgang ist lang, begleitet von Marzipan, Holz und säuerlicher tropischer Frucht. Im Gegensatz zum HGML ist dieser einfach nur „wild“ aber gut! Aber definitiv nicht leicht zu bändigen!

Wieder eine Ester-Bombe aus dem Hause RDL. Etwas „milder“ als Nummer 32, vielleicht fehlt eine Spur Frucht. Alkohol gekonnt eingebunden, auch wenn das eine echte Holzhammer-Abfüllung ist. Ester all over, viel Kleber und Funk. Fruchtig ohne Ende, sehr tropisch. Adstringierend ohnegleichen - zieht einem den Mund brutal zusammen. Vielleicht etwas scharf, aber sehr nah am HGML. Könnte runder sein, ein Jährchen mehr im Fass hätte nicht geschadet. Spannender Rum und fantastischer Partygag. Lecker.

Wow was für eine Granate. Das Ding ist wild. Auch nach 30 Minuten Atmen beruhigt sich die Nase nicht. NYE ist sofort erkennbar, aber klarer Fokus auf die frischen und jüngeren high Ester NYE. Vom aging im NYE 1994 Fass riecht man nichts. Am Gaumen ebenfalls wild. Ester und Frucht geben ordentlich Gas. Auch hier ist das aging im NYE 1994 Fass nicht wirklich spürbar. Für mich persönlich nicht so rund wie der GRF HGML, etwas mehr Zeit im Fass hätte geholfen. Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden was eine Kunst ist bei diesem ABV. Krasses Produkt, aber leider auch krasser Preis. Wenn man das Alter bedenkt.

Nice and intense bottling. Vast basket of tropical fruits and funky esters combined with marzipan and cookie notes. Compared to the RDL HGML, the latter had a more pronounced impact from the barrel putting it ahead of the NY we have here.

Verkostet auf der Pueblo del Ron Nürnberg 2024. Danke an die Jungs von Romdeluxe die mir diesen ausgegeben habe. Mit dem ABV ist dieser schon ein wahrliches Brett. Ein guter "Anfängerrum". Scherz beiseite, der ist schon gut, aber für die aufgerufenen 179€ wäre mir da die Flasche zu teuer.

Kabooom👊🏻 Kaum den Deckel abgenommen, bekommt man gleich eine volle Ladung Ester und Kleber(UHU), überreifen Früchte mit zarten Marzipan Noten. Am Gaumen geht es brachial weiter… Durch die hohen Ester Werte wirkt er sehr pelzig und astringend. Der Abgang ist lang, trocken, ein wenig astringend, die tropischen Früchte und das Marzipan klingen noch länger nach. Der Alkohol ist erstaunlich gut integriert. Es fehlt durch das junge Alter an Komplexität macht aber trotzdem Spass (Nicht zu empfehlen für Einsteiger)!

Tolle Nase mit viel Power und etwas Rauch hintenraus. Schon gewisse BBQ-Aromen spürbar, aber auch Klebstoff. Könnte ich den ganzen Tag lang riechen. Im Mund dann viel auf einmal. Klebstoff dominiert auch etwas chemische Noten ohne zu unangenehm zu sein. Recht ausgewogen trotz der 85% und ordentlich trinkbar. Im Abgang dann viel Speichelfluss und erneut viel Klebstoff. Wirkt insgesamt jung und kräftig (was er ja auch ist). Auch wenn es bei den hohen Prozenten schwer ist, hätte ich mir hier eine längere Lagerung gewünscht. Der HGML vom GRF war in meinen Augen spürbar besser und ausgewogener. Preis/Verfügbarkeit bleibt außen vor.

Nachverkostung von der Pueblo del Ron in Nürnberg, wo ich mir das Sample bei Rom de Luxe mitgenommen habe. Nase taugt mir recht gut aber am Gaumen ist er doch etwas ruppig. Geht bei mir klar in die Kategorie der überpreisten, zu kurz gelagerten Rom de Luxe Experimente. Ich bräuchte für ein genussvolles Sippen etwas mehr Holzreife und wäre dann auch eher bereit den aufgerufenen Betrag zu zahlen.
