"Not a very complex Long Pond, but just a very good rum," is how one member sums it up. Expect pineapple, overripe fruit and a whiff of glue on the nose, then esters, cream and a fair bit of young oak on the palate. Several tasters find it turning herbal and drying out bitter at the end. A well-integrated 22-year Long Pond that pleases without amazing.

Beautiful LP Nose very restrained... Sweetish peach, honeydew melon, green apple and very light ester notes. On the palate ... first again an unusual sweetness, immediately some bitterness. Little fruit ... lots of wood and herbs . Not quite convincing on its own... but delivers a decent Mai Tai as a blend.

Not a bad long pond but also not a highlight, taste predominates for me wood and acidic tannins, could have more spice and more fruitiness.Overall good drinking flow but just does not really knock me off my stool.

Not at the level of the other LP 2000

Nice and rich fruit basket on the nose which I found in other 2000 VRWs. In this one, however, there is also a ton of herbal and vegetal notes which I do not associated with this mark at all. Somewhat more akin to PM notes, maybe..? On the palate it is a bit more as expected. Fruits are a little tamed with woodies and again some herbal notes.

Wow, here is directly something going on in the nose! Ester and the fruitiness of a fruit basket are directly present. Clearly more esters and funk than RX7107. Great creaminess on the palate with very well integrated alcohol. I like it very much!

Delicious Long Pond with well-integrated ABV. Edit: The bottle is almost empty now and for me it remains a successful bottling with good value for money. Ripe fruits, citrus fruits, and some marzipan dominate.

I like it very much! He is not an ester bomb, but has nice fruit notes and at the same time creamy chocolate notes. I am only bothered by a minimal gin note.

#4488 03-04.11.2023 Den Danske Whiskyfestival. Again a special meet up besides the event itself because we think it's a bit too dull. Had a great time with friends again. My notes. Nose: wood, roasted, ester, overripe fruits, glue, light funk. Palate: warm, wood, ester, oily overripe fruits, citrus. Finish: long and warm, ester, fruits Empty glass has light vanilla.

An average long pond. I find missing both the fruitiness of continental ageing releases and the ooh effect of tropically aged long pond. On the nose a bit of vinagre that we'll find again when drinking, some sour cream and ananas, traits common also drink side

Good Long Pond from Heinz Eggert. Nose typical Jamicca, esters, tropical fruits like pineapple and some glue. On the palate only esters and tropical fruits, just a normal Jamaican as it is written in the book ;-)

Jamaica without Hampden Tasting: Great bottling that's fun; typical Jamaican with lots of tropical fruits and esters. Also young wood, but also roasted aromas and burnt sugar on the palate.

Ich finde bei diesem Long Pond ungewöhnlich viele Kräuternoten neben den eher unaufdringlichen Estern mit ihrer sehr ansprechenden Tropenfruchtigkeit. Im Geschmack übernehmen vergorene Zitrusfrüchte, wobei auch eine gewisse jungholzige Bitterkeit mitschwingt, die aber meinen Genuss nur minimal einbremst. Lecker!

A very nice LP without being particularly spectacular. The nose takes a little time, but then it is a nice mix of funk and barrel. On the palate I find the barrel influence very present but pleasant. Nicely dry and astringent towards the end. I like it a lot.

Quite a nice Long Pond, but not an outstanding banger. Ester and funky, but somehow something is missing for me. It didn’t convince me enough for a better rating. I find it too bitter on the finish.

08/02/25: Tasted alongside 6 other Long Ponds. I liked this one very much. Good level of fruitiness and funk, it reminded me of the Velier NRJ Cambridge 2010 which is currently one of my favourite Long Ponds.

Rum Artesanal – Long Pond 2000 – 55.8% To open this 3rd and final batch, here is a Long Pond 2000 signed Rum Artesanal, bottled at 55.8%. Nose: discreet, clearly not high esters. Some notes of peach, melon, green apple and a hint of esters. Palate: few fruits ultimately, but lots of wood and herbaceous notes, even a slight bitterness on the finish. Verdict: like the Rum Sponge 21A – Long Pond 2000 tasted earlier, a bit of a disappointment for me (even though I have a small bottle in the cellar). We are very far from a Plantation Long Pond ITP 2000 (Extreme No.4), which remains a notch above...

The initial smell on this is great. Banana cream and ripe plum. Some caramel Sunday. But a little citrus as well. Pours golden. In the mouth this really takes off something spectacular. Peach skin, more lemon. Custard. A little wood on the finish. Amazing balance. Top tier stuff. Medium finish. Bottle split thanks to xamsx.

You immediately recognize the Long Pond. Not a very complex long pond, but just a very good rum. This is a more accessible one with less funk. Regarding the price I think you can get better Long Ponds for this, but still one you should try.

Nice fruity notes. Pleasant sweetness alternates with slight bitterness. There are certainly better releases from the vintage, but it's definitely not bad either.

It's a pleasant rum, but considering its age and price I expected more. It's good of course, you can feel Jamaica, a little metallic side, fruit, but I didn't get excited.
