Brine and olives on a cane-juice rum — not what most people expect. This unaged pot-still Grenadian leads with fresh grass, mint and a shellfish-like minerality, then turns oily and floral with light banana and pineapple underneath. At 50% the alcohol stays surprisingly quiet. One taster nailed it: "amazing terroir." It's savoury and green rather than sweet, and it rewards paying attention.

#5833 07.10.2025 Relaxing with a few new samples i got from a colleague. Listening to some cool new tracks by Special M and Spectra Sonics. Nose Intense, fruity, light mint, banana, grass, pencil shavings, light polish, cinnamon, faint olive. Palate Oily, intense, fruity, light pineapple, cinnamon, light floral, sugarcane, naturally sweet, olive, faint salt. Finish Medium long, fruits, spice, faint smoke, light floral, olive, faint mineral. Empty glass Olive, cinnamon, mineral, light tobacco, light floral. This is definitely a rum tha many wont like because of the flavour profile.

As George Takei said “Oh My!” And that’s where the positivity ends for me - god knows what I’m tasting! I can tell you I’ve never tasted anything like it before! There’s a hint of sweet grass and about nothing else I can make out - apparently the only nosing and tasting note that the RumX is Ester If that’s what Ester tastes like then I’m in trouble when it comes to tasting Jamaican rums, especially ones with a high enough ester count Every fibre of my being has rejected this one - very nearly an “inedible” rating, worst one so far I’ve ever tried

A pronounced aroma that is vegetal and grassy, but also a distinct shellfish minerality note. Very smooth and round with well integrated flavors. There is a decently long finish with some complexity to it.

11/05/2026: Advent calender: Le Monde des Rhums 2025. Pretty intense and interesting profile with fresh notes of olives, brine, flowers,... I already tried a few rums from Renegade distillery, both aged and unaged, but I'm still not convinced. The quality is there, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Wow this rum is clearly underradet in my opinion. You can hardly taste the 50 percent alcohol. Of course, it is clearly recognizable in the smell and taste. A clear recommendation from me.

Sehr guter Rum riecht gut schmeckt gut. Esternoten kommen klar durch und der Alkoholgehalt ist angenehm und dezent. Der Geruch nach frischem Grün prägt sich nachhaltig ein. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist überragend.
