A bit more tart than the sister bottlings, also with a somewhat irritating medicinal note. Has a lot of pleasing from the Demerara-typical flavor world, but it is unfortunately not completely round.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get is spicy with baking spices, some polish, a hint of molasses, roasted wood notes with caramel, Demerara sugar and dried fruits, toasted coconut, some citrus. On aeration, new notes arise like tobacco, citrus in the shape of lemon, orange peel, nuts and more vegetal aspect of molasses.We could say it is a very balanced nose impression. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is spicy, roasted with allspice, vanilla, dark chocolate, Demerara sugar is caramelized, the molasses is syrupy, herbaceous, sweet with honey, with a help of dried fruits, especially currants with nice oxidation, when chocolate becomes milky and nutty, some notes medicinal, as citrus jumps in/out of the game intermittently,..and a little surprise, toasted coconut, candied fruits, yes, perfume😀. 8,6:The finish is long, dry, tannic and a bit dirty, less spicy, more round with notes from palate continuing the journey. Edit:24.1.2026, an oxidation helps, an upgrade for 0.1.

Beautiful varnish and polish notes, balanced demerara profile. Plenty of caramel. Warm and powerful as only tropical maturation can produce. Very spicy, lots of caramel in the mouth. Furry finish. Very good Demerara sipper, simply too simple to be awarded higher honors. This is how one imagines ED 12 at cask strength. And therefore far too expensive.

Tasted this excellent rum during Sweden Rumfest 2025. It was distilled on Diamonds Coffey Still and aged for one year at Diamond whereafter it was transferred to Uitvlugt and was aged for 21 more years in their ex-bourbon barrels. The nose is sweet, spicy and nutty with aromas of honey, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and some hints of licorice. At the palate it’s elegant, full bodied, well balanced, sweet and spicy with flavors of honey, caramel, vanilla and nutmeg. The finish is long lasting.

Update: Tasted again and slightly upgraded. But still not really on the level of the Rare Collection. I like it a bit more today than the first time I tried it. But here too – like with the other Diamond from the series – that biting chemical alcoholic off-note right at the first sip. Nose and finish are good. Better than the other Diamond, but still not my favorite.

Lots of bitter citrus zest meets dark chocolate and slightly medicinal notes. Overall an exciting profile, although nowhere near as harmonious as the other two Last Casks in direct comparison. The alcohol could be much better integrated... a bit wild. But finally, a strong, dirty, and spicy Guyana profile. Still, just like the other three, in my opinion, it’s nowhere near worth nearly 300€.

Nose is not too intense, dusty and honey. Dry and spicy in the mouth with moderate complexity. This is sharper and wood dominated. The tastes don't oscillate smoothly. Upper medium aftertaste length

Here I find more esters on the nose compared to RX15466 but also more dark aromas: leather, bitter chocolate, oak. On the palate also very heavy and thick. Many but not too many bitter notes. Dark fruits and burnt sugar alternate. Very good, heavy Guyana rum with lots of spice, cask, and tannins. I especially like the esters on the nose.

First off, I think the price tag is far too high compared to what you get. That being said this is still a pretty good Diamond. Lightly fruity with roasted wood and some notes of polish/varnish. Es and spicy on the palate and a medium to long finish.

Today the three El Dorado Last Casks in the glass (red, black, gold label). The golden one is a 2000 Diamond matured in Uitvlugt casks. On the nose between the red and black, with plenty of varnish, plus dried fruits, caramel. On the palate roasted, long finish. Ranking: black, gold, red.

I'm always a fan of rum at a bit higher ABV%, and this is no exception. Got molasses and sweetness in the nose, and I found deep notes of molasses, wood and hints of caramel. Aftertaste of bitter wood

And now the 3rd of the Last Casks. Mhhh, blend with Uit and 22 years tropical with a stretching proper %. Nose: the profile is very similar to the other two. Nice Guyana aromas with glue, orange and wood. On the finer side, there is coconut and papaya with passion fruit, a fine sweetness of maple syrup, slightly sour treacle with wood acidity, chocolate with vanilla and caramel. Very complex and dense aromas. 8.7 Palate: I like this one best of all three. Again beautifully dense, complex and intense. Fruity, spicy and woody at the same time. The initial acidity is immediately captured by malty chocolate and slightly fatty nut, pecan, together with fruity sweetness. Blackcurrant and orange, plus tonka bean and molasses with a hint of liquorice. Very round and the increased alcohol content fits wonderfully. 8,9 I don't have a direct comparison with other high births from Velier or Silver Seal at the moment, but these El Dorados have nothing to hide...

Dark demerara like El Dorado, doped with thick molasses. Almond/nut/chocolate and caramel. It is very greedy, it drinks itself but... But it's 300€ a pin for a big lack of personality. It lacks the little thing that makes it great and that makes you buy the bottle. So for the same price, or less, I'll take the Skeldon or the Albion from the same brand.

I find this rum unbalanced in the mouth because it comes across very bitter and sour. The typical notes are present and everything seems very tasty at first, but the rum could be rounder. Pleasant on the nose and 100% Demerara. Price used to be very high, cheaper to get in 2026! Very good for that.

very promising on the nose at the first place, rasins, a hint of orange, dried plum. But gone after a few minutes. After that, wood, polish, the nice aromas are gone. Disappointing on the palate, sharp, ABV too strong, wood and alcohol to dominant. Finish is short and you feel like you’ve chewed a piece of wood

Starting of with lots od glue and solvent on the nose. With some time in the glas the nose gets more dominate by woody and roasted notes with some raisins and dried fruits in the background. Wood forwards and adstringend on the palate. Some dried fruits showing up towards the finish.

I was looking forward to the ED Last Cask Gold. Maybe my expectations were too high. On the nose, I find wood, varnish, and dark aromas. On the palate, wood dominates, along with bitterness and dark fruits. The alcohol is too sharp and unpleasant for me. A shame, but that's how it is.

Tasted against the Last Cask Tri-Canada (red label). I absolutely love it, it's very unique. It has has depth, Guyana markers but first and foremost: nail polish. Really didn't expect it, and I wonder how it even ended up here. The rel label on the other hand is more about wood polish and citrus. If you like weird things, you might enjoy that one. And it's not that bitter actually.
