Diamond El Dorado The Last Casks (Gold) 2000
Glue and solvent hit first on the nose, then dark chocolate, roasted oak, molasses and dried fruit roll in — a proper dirty, spicy Guyana profile at cask strength. Several tasters call it the best of the three Last Casks; others find the alcohol not fully tamed and the palate a touch bitter and one-note. Give it time in the glass to open up.
The community says- Dark chocolate depth

How does Diamond El Dorado The Last Casks (Gold) 2000 taste?
Aggregated from 59 community reviews.
Dirty, chocolatey cask-strength Demerara sipper Loved by fans of heavy Demerara for its chocolate, molasses and glue-forward funk. The common gripe: hot, slightly disjointed alcohol and a bitter, one-dimensional streak on the palate.

I like today a tad better than when I first tasted it. But also here - as with the other Diamond from the series - this biting chemical alcoholic off-note directly at the Antrunk. Nose and finish are good. Better than the other, but not my favorite either. I don't think I'll miss this Tri-Canada distillery aparst.

Beautiful varnish and polish notes, balanced demerara profile. Plenty of caramel. Warm and powerful as only tropical maturation can produce. Very spicy, lots of caramel in the mouth. Furry finish. Very good Demerara sipper, simply too simple to be awarded higher honors. This is how one imagines ED 12 at cask strength. And therefore far too expensive.
Review by Rodolphe
Dark demerara like El Dorado, doped with thick molasses. Almond/nut/chocolate and caramel. It is very greedy, it drinks itself but... But it's 300€ a pin for a big lack of personality. It lacks the little thing that makes it great and that makes you buy the bottle. So for the same price, or less, I'll take the Skeldon or the Albion from the same brand.

Starting of with lots od glue and solvent on the nose. With some time in the glas the nose gets more dominate by woody and roasted notes with some raisins and dried fruits in the background. Wood forwards and adstringend on the palate. Some dried fruits showing up towards the finish.

very promising on the nose at the first place, rasins, a hint of orange, dried plum. But gone after a few minutes. After that, wood, polish, the nice aromas are gone. Disappointing on the palate, sharp, ABV too strong, wood and alcohol to dominant. Finish is short and you feel like you’ve chewed a piece of wood

First off, I think the price tag is far too high compared to what you get. That being said this is still a pretty good Diamond. Lightly fruity with roasted wood and some notes of polish/varnish. Es and spicy on the palate and a medium to long finish.

Review by Benoit Mahe
Review by Jarek

I'm always a fan of rum at a bit higher ABV%, and this is no exception. Got molasses and sweetness in the nose, and I found deep notes of molasses, wood and hints of caramel. Aftertaste of bitter wood
Review by Buddudharma
Der höhere ABV steht dem Rum gut. Vom Profil jedoch etwas eindimensional, wenngleich lecker.
Review by Nivius
Review by Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓
Close first place within the new trio. It wins the photo finish over the black Last Cask because of the slightly stronger punch (ABV).
Review by Andi
Chocolate, molasses, wood, chemical, bitter, also this rum should be given time in the glass so that it develops its potential.
Review by kudzey
Nose is not too intense, dusty and honey. Dry and spicy in the mouth with moderate complexity. This is sharper and wood dominated. The tastes don't oscillate smoothly. Upper medium aftertaste length
