Most people came in expecting little from a Brazilian and left surprised. The Amburana cask is the whole story here: cinnamon bark everywhere, dry woody spice, tobacco and dark fruit, with a green agricole edge from the cane-and-molasses distillate. At 54.5% it's sharp and drying — a few tasters mention a numbing coumarin tingle on the gums. Loved as a mixer, divisive neat.

My first rum from Brazil 🤘🏻 First of all, a very exciting story, as it was distilled from both molasses and pressed sugar cane😎 While still promising on the nose, it falls relatively flat on the palate. The finish is medium-long with different notes, whereby a bitter wood note predominates.

Nice mix of agricole and molasses. Unfortunately a bit sharp-edged at the back like I have experienced with other Cachaca Single Casks. Barrel choice also interesting, but does not convince me.

An exciting rum, with intense flavors! Somehow from two different worlds, on the one hand Agricole, on the other hand more towards molasses. The interplay between fruit, plant aromas and spices provides an experience on the tongue. The longer it lingers and especially in the finish, the Agricole note comes out. I like quite well

#4699 12.04.2024 Relaxing after a very intense week at work. Nose Round, balanced, wood, spice, fruits, cinnamon, sugarcane, light vegetal. Palate Spicy, medium dry, wood, light roasted, spice, earthy, light salt, light nutts, cinnamon, fruits. Finish Medium to long, wood, cinnamon, light nutts, faint coffee. The empty glass has some faint chocolate, berries and herbs. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

Really stunning Barazil rums I had now not yet in the glass. Here I find especially the 6-year maturation in Amburana barrel interesting... Nose: powerful and intense. Initially, the alcohol does cut a bit. I immediately notice a pleasant, full tobacco note, old pipe tobacco. Also very woody, but not bitter, rather dry, fragrant cedar. In fruit I find dried apricot, red apple, blackberry and some black currant. Some vanilla and red pepper round out the lovely nose. Reminds me a bit of the New Grove Acacia. 8,3 Palate: the nose continues on the palate. For me, cigar tobacco predominates. Also salty-bitter-woody with dried apricot, blackberry and black currant. Some red pepper and old cinnamon powder add spice. It is powerful and has nice volume. 8,1 I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. I like these strong scented wood flavors from slightly different wood barrels than usual. The intense tobacco note with the subtle fruit is a nice blend. Good Brazilian!

Interesting profile, the Amburana wood also adds a pleasantly independent note here, bringing cinnamon and woody sweetness to the profile. Unfortunately, the rest of the distillate seems a little too restrained, light earthy notes paired with sugar cane and fruit brandy aromas - all in all, however, I find the fullness of the mouth lacking. Although the alcohol is not unpleasantly integrated, it still stands out in terms of taste because the other aromas are simply not expressive enough. What remains is a mature distillate that is undoubtedly pleasant to drink, but is a little too restrained for me personally. .

Unbelievably much cinnamon bark, sharp, dry and heavy due to the amburana aging. Awesome stuff for a single cask cachaça! Definitely a rum flying under the radar. In general, cachaça should get more attention on RumX! 😁

Definitely an exciting bottling. I didn't know Amburana cask until now. Here, Agricole with vegetal notes meets lots of cinnamon. Alcohol could be a bit better integrated. You have to like it.

Nice nose with cinnamon and fruits. On the palate this is surprisingly smokey and somewhat reminded me of Scotch 🙈 The combination of juice and molasses is definitely an interesting touch.

Wow, what a delicious rum. Honestly didn't expect that much. Alcohol is very well integrated and you immediately smell the cinnamon which also dominates the finish. I can give a clear recommendation here.

A nice Rumclub here Brazil Edition No. 34. Has a nice nose consisting of sugarcane and vanilla as well as some cinnamon. On the palate then also sugarcane, vanilla and cinnamon as well as some chocolate. Alcohol well integrated.

The cinnamon aroma comes through - as expected - very nice. On the nose super horny, on the palate almost something dominating, but still within the framework. In any case, a cocktail grenade ... certainly gives a dreamlike Three Dots and a Dash 🤤Alcohol well integrated.

8,4:On the nose, sugarcane, fermented, slightly rotten, a bit pungent, intense, flowery, citrus, tropical, red fruits, roasted wood notes like pastry, spicy allspice, vanilla, bump into our nosetrils, as barrel impact is noticable. On aeration, burnt sugar, caramel, coffee join, some blackcurrant, as the cane is grassy, minty, earthy with cigar tobacco and slightly perfumed. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is intense, strong, disbalanced, pungent with fermented tropical, red fruits, sugarcane, vegetal, briny and spicy(pepper, allspice), roasted wood with caramel, nuts, pastry like cinammon buns, , gingerbread.It quickly settles down, becomes balanced, fresh, grassy with hay, earthy with tobacco, slightly resinous, tannic, vanilla ice cream joins, citrus fruits. 8,2:The finish is medium length, balanced, dry&tannic, with vegetal sugar cane, green, minty, earthy with cigar tobacco, dark with black tea, slightly fruity, as the wood is roasted with roasted nuts, chocolate, sourdough bread, smoky, medicinal with phenol, spicy with allspice, pepper, a bit metallic. For me, the first Brazilian, which I try pure. Accordingly, I went into the tasting without expectation and was pleasantly surprised. Initially still an alcoholic spiciness in the nose, surprise me pretty quickly notes of cinnamon, tobacco and unripe currants. The spicy, herbal and fruity notes are accompanied by a woody note. On the palate, the already familiar notes from the nose predominate. Unfortunately, starting at the tip of the tongue, an unpleasant spiciness spreads across the tongue. The medium-long finish ends in tobacco flavors as well as a slightly woody component. An exceedingly interesting debut that I enjoyed very much. Probably 0.1 or 0.2 points more would have been possible, had it not been for the disturbing sharpness.

Second tasting, the cask gives this rum a quite extraordinary note. Actually a light rum, caramel and woody, but through the Amburana cask comes an interesting cinnamon spiciness.

Definitely different from anything I have tried so far. Such a complex mix of spices, aromatic wood notes and fruits I have not had in my glass before. Only the gum numbing that increases with every sip slows down the fun a bit over time. Still a real recommendation for open-minded connoisseurs.

Interesting above all because it's somehow different. Lots of cinnamon on the nose. Then nice and fruity on the palate, but also plenty of cigar. Almost a little too much for me. Relatively dry but never boring. Perhaps not outstanding but definitely worth a rum trip. Brazil can do more than just cachaca 👍

Kind of cool ! Reminds me strongly of a well-aged Martinique Agricole and at the same time has that cachaca note. It's a hell of a rum for mixing - unfortunately, the strong coumarin content has a negative effect when drunk neat, as it numbs the mouth, but at the same time brings some really great aromas to the rhum (coumarin is one of the main aromatic substances in woodruff, cinnamon and tonka bean - which can be tasted wonderfully here). In crosstasting with a few cachacas, I really tasted turpentine, which I had to add here - really exciting! I think it's a great experiment and a nice rhum to mix at a really good PLV. As a mixer it gets >90 points from me, as a drink the first number in my head was 75, but I can well imagine that it will be rated in the range of the Rumclub Depaz by Agricole lovers, if the exotic coumarin aroma of the Amburana wood, with the narcotic effect, doesn't pull it down too much.

Certainly a very special rum with many flavors that I did not know or are not common. Therefore a great complexity. But also a certain austerity and alcoholic note. Cask influence very blatant. Doesn't get me 100%. Lots of pepper on the palate. Definitely exciting. Edit: second tasting outdoor 30 degrees 15min in the glass: the nose is super cool as it becomes floral. Like a perfume. Alcohol also gone on the palate. Still spicy. Great complexity. Maybe I'll get another bottle after all.

A strange animal: cough syrup, some herbs, artificial sweetness, cough syrup again. Alcohol could be better integrated. Comparatively long finish. The sweetness at the end somehow lingers, which I'm personally not a fan of. But definitely interesting as a sample.

The nose seems somehow familiar to me, but I can't put my finger on it. Great balance between cinnamon, red and citrus fruits and noble cask, top. The first sip was already intense, very sharp-edged, astringent, lots of barrel surrounded by fruit and cinnamon. Reminiscent of Agricole, the alcohol could be better integrated. An interesting experiment.

Nose logically a bit of alcohol and barrel, possibly also from the Amburana influence, cinnamon, later even a bit smoky; tongue has a strong start, complex, slightly sweetish (for me unidentifiable) spiciness, fruit comes through, exciting. Good value for money.

For me so far the surprise of 2023! I've tried little good from Brazil, but this rum is unbeatable in price-performance. Great complexity, fruit, wood, slight cinnamon hints. Strong stuff!

Interesting! On the nose an alternation between tobacco notes and vegetal notes, it's quite well done. You feel the wood despite the relatively short aging. On the palate you first get an intense caramel cinnamon sweetness then a spicy, even peppery agricole side appears, it's quite disturbing. The finish leaves me doubtful, too peppery in my opinion. Nice bottle that managed to tame the hybrid agricole molasses. The finish could have been more gourmand in my opinion. Good value for money.

Quite nicely done. It is only a shame that the amburana finish is so strong. While not being a bad flavor in it self, it does cover the rum heavily. I really would have loved to discover that one separately as well. Still quite the pleasent drink
