Most tasters agree the nose is the star here — ripe pineapple, banana and that classic Hampden glue — but a few feel the palate doesn't quite keep up. #5998 26.11.2025 Enjoying some samples while celebrating that I have finally caught up with all my notes in RumX. Nose Intense, fresh, light wood, fruity, overripe, ester, pineapple, light coconut, light polish, light mango. Palate Warm, intense, naturally sweet, light wood, faint smoke, light mango, light citrus, overripe, ester, light glue, cinnamon, medium dry. Finish Very long and warm, light wood, citrus, ester, light glue, pineapple. Empty glass Light marzipan, pineapple, cinnamon, light chocolate.

What a pleasure this Hampden 2007 is, the nose is incredible: esters and ripe pineapple galore. A very light woodiness. In the mouth, the alcohol speaks first. It warms the palate. Then it explodes. Incredible. An aromatic bomb loaded with esters, fruits, pungent spices. The finish is long and smooth, the heat remains, the fruits too. A bomb.

Initially restrained on the nose and also in the mouth something unround in the finish. Needs a little time, but still a top rum. In tasting with FRC 2007 and WJ 2007

Young, wild and straight to the point. This young Hampden checks all my boxes of what I expect from such a rum. Excellent!

So intense that it’s hard to analyze. The alcohol burns, the balance is not its strength. Loads of tropical fruits on the nose and in the taste, but the glue is also there. Great rum, but not for laidback moments.
