Depaz Private Cask (Édition Bar 1802) 2010
One member sums it up as "full, with huge taste" — and that's the whole story here. This is a cask-strength Depaz agricole: roasted oak, chocolate, dried fruit and warm winter spice, with the 57.4% well tucked in. Several tasters note a sour, astringent edge, so a couple of drops of water and time in the glass help it open up.
- Roasted oak depth
- Great ABV integration
- Chocolate and spice

How does Depaz Private Cask (Édition Bar 1802) 2010 taste?
Aggregated from 18 community reviews.
Powerful, spicy cask-strength Depaz agricole Loved for its powerful, well-integrated cask-strength profile and roasted-wood depth. The common catch: a sour, astringent streak some find sharp. Spicy, woody, and not for the timid.

#4004 Another great release for Bar 1802. Price to quality is very good and it's a well balanced rum with great ABV integration. I love the roasted wood because it's strong without being too dominant among the other flavours. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has a light leather note to it.

Excellent rhum.

A very fine selection from Bar 1802, distinguished by a complete nose with a wide and varied aromatic spectrum: from spices (nutmeg, vanilla, pepper) to floral and menthol notes, through a gourmet woodiness on hazelnut, chocolate and mocha, or dried fruit (grape, prune) and citrus (lemon and orange zest) this Depaz demonstrates balance and complexity. On the palate, notes of sugar cane, nougat and caramel add to the profile, bringing a gourmet touch. Occasional agricultural touches add complexity, bordered by warm spices (winter spices), citrus (zest), dried fruit, chocolate and floral, earthy notes. The alcohol is very well integrated, and the whisky cask finish goes unnoticed. The finish is very long, dry, fresh and herbaceous. Caramel, spices, dried fruit and citrus set the tone for a well-structured, gourmet, easy-drinking rum. A superb Depaz that strikes a perfect balance and will delight even the most agricultural-minded palates. Excellent value for money.

As you would expect from Depaz - super complex, perhaps a little on the sour/astringent side.

Very good Depaz. Not too spicy like the previous brut de fut I tried. The American oak adds roundness. The whisky has an interesting smokiness, but it's not the finish I prefer.

Aujourd’hui mon avis a changé.
