Dark and heavy on the nose. Wood / liquorice / some dried fruits / roasted (nuts) as well as some grainy notes. Compared to the Nectar bottling (RX13731) this is more rough and a bit less fruit heavy. Similar notes on the palate with liquorice / dried fruits and herbal notes. Feels a little harsh overall - from the freshly opened bottle mind you. Similarly to The Nectar SV this is not unlike the beloved SWR profile from 2001. However, again with a twist towards more herbal notes overall.

This SV doesn't convince me... the nose is still okay, but on the palate I taste a total off-note... it somehow reminds me of soap/dishwashing liquid! Nah, this one is not for me.

A rum tasted at the GRF in 2024, S.B.S. Masterclass. A nose with sweet aromas of molasses and brown sugar, varnished old wood and light earth. The aromas are discreet at the start of the palate, then develop on the sweet side and some fruit, but stewed. The finish is rather long, but only on wood/caramel. A rum overly marked by molasses and sugar in general, which even dominate the wood.

#4492 03-04.11.2023 Den Danske Whiskyfestival. Again a special meet up besides the event itself because we think it's a bit too dull. Had a great time with friends again. My notes. Nose: roasted wood, raisin, anise, light coffee. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, anise, light smoke, herbal. Finish: medium to long, mint, wood, light coffee. Empty glass has licorice and a light caramel note.

A nice, pleasing, but also rather tame profile. Sure, it's drinkable, it's fun to drink, but it lacks the rough edges that would be needed to establish a unique selling point here. Very good, no doubt, but not top class.

8,6:On the nose, molasses bumps into our nosetrils, dark, with licorice, at first roasted wood notes with nuts, cocoa, caramel, spicy with baking spices, vanilla and dried fruits. On aeration, some menthol shows up, the wood is charred with coffee, smoky, there is a strong walnut, some maggi and citrus, dried dates. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is dark with molasses and licorice, black tea, roasted wood notes like nuts, caramel, spicy with anise, as the fruits are dried with dates, prunes, currants and apricots, cherry, citrus.Menthol is present again, after resting the rum, molasses brings tobacco, herbaceous tones.Afterwards, the wood is charred, the sugar is burnt. 8,6:The finish is long, dry and tannic, dark with charred wood notes and molasses, dark dried fruits...

Has something of burnt caramel and green pickled walnuts, as well as licorice sticks. Stable uitvlugt with a lot of tropical influence but still room for improvement. For the fact that I usually don't like uitvluigt because of the pencil note, I find this one surprisingly good, therefore slight bonus point award 😂

The legendary SV mark of the king Diamond 88 from Velier! Unfortunately, it cannot live up to the high expectations. Similar to the Nectar SV, it is somewhat one-dimensional in contrast to the excellent 2001 SWR, has less depth, less the deep molasses notes, overall flatter.

Like a SWR on toothpaste. Very enticing, typical Demerara nose with menthol, but unexpectedly flat and short on the palate, although still very pleasing, licorice, leather and tobacco. Can't quite keep up with the SWR of the same vintage, so whoever still has some of that doesn't necessarily need this SV, especially given the PLV, which can now be described as relatively unfavorable. But perhaps just this SWR/SV comparison appeals, then it would be a very suitable representative.

For me a very nice bottling. Unfortunately, I lack another bottling from this vintage for comparison. I find it very tasty and the alcohol is, in my opinion, well integrated. Nice dark and easy to drink.

This Guyana bottling from S.B.S is also great, but doesn't quite reach the level of the previous one. Woody nose, plus roasted nuts and coffee. On the palate, coffee dominates, which becomes really clear in the finish.

A decent one, herbal kind of Guyanese style. It's quite rich, especially in the mouth. It's sharp and the profile is not exactly what I love but I enjoyed it much.

Beautiful dark colour. On the nose: Just as i expected from the colour, there is aheavy barrel aged influence. Dark, heavy. Hints of vanilla and caramel. Burnt sugar comes to the palate after a while Taste: Barrel gives this a good body. I get toasted dark fruits, spices and coffee. Hints of herbal flavour and anise are there. Burnt sugar is there to give touch of sweetness. The more you work this in your mouth the more coffee flavour and molassses flavours dominate Finish: quite medium finish. Coffee flavour is dominant. Woody and Barrell influence are present. Good texture and quality is there but nothing really stands out from this to make it really great rum. I like the coffee flavour finish and touch of complexity on the taste

Basically, this is a profile I really like. This rum style characterized by molasses and licorice with its aromas of dark chocolate and coffee, plus some fruity hints, always hits my taste. However, there's a strange soapy herbal aftertaste from too much marjoram that spoils the balance a bit. Also, the subtle methyl salicylate aroma reminds me repeatedly of a muscle relaxation bath, which I don't find quite fitting. Overall still a really good Guyana rum.

Tasted blindly. N:sweet n salty licorice (Dutch Trekdrop). Bay leaf. Black tea. Vanilla. Something Haribo about this. Pretty balanced. A bit of coffee too T: mild in alcohol. Burnt sugar. Bitterness. Caramel. Still some licorice. Some freshness too. Light. A bit Diamond SV -esque. Toasted (almost burnt) dark bread. Very drinkable. Still something Haribo like those white and grey foamy mice sweets/licorice fish. My guess is something Guyana with caramel in the cask. (Got it right!)

This one is fun today. Dark, heavy profile, with wood, coffee, burnt sugar and lots of dried fruits. All notes are also found on the palate, complemented by a pleasant sweetness. Not a top rum, but solid.

Overall absolutely a damn good rum. But it lacks a bit of depth, character, and complexity to really convince and keep up with others. It doesn't do anything wrong, but it's not a knockout either. Flavors that stand out are: licorice, molasses notes, bitter tea, slightly fresh accents. Becoming slightly bitter towards the end. Unfortunately, not a very long finish.

Very tasty 'Eiflät'. Perfectly integrated alcohol. Nut meets licorice and dried fruit! But it could easily handle 5-6% more. Guyana is becoming more and more my favorite...

Nice dark flavours at an easy drinking strength. Roasted and liquorish comes out the most. Very enjoyable and a long finish. Not complex though, feels a bit one dimensional for this price tag.
