Corman Collins New Yarmouth Rum New Yarmouth (The Auld Alliance) 1994
Most tasters land in the same place: a very good 1994 New Yarmouth that sits in the strong middle of the vintage rather than at the very top. Expect coconut, milk chocolate, dried dates and toffee with that classic acetone-glue thread and oaky spice. At 67% the heat is mostly well tucked in, though the finish turns spicy and a touch bitter for some.

How does Corman Collins New Yarmouth Rum New Yarmouth (The Auld Alliance) 1994 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Rich, chocolatey Jamaican with hot, spicy finish Loved across the board, with one honest catch: the finish runs hot and slightly bitter, and a few say it just misses the very best 94 NY bottlings. Still rich and complex.

Tried it again today against the new FRC For me, the FRC has the edge Another 94 New Yarmouth that I have now tasted. From memory, compared to the Insane 94 tasting, I would put this one in the good midfield. More on the creamy, chocolatey side. Nevertheless, the 94 NYs are all at a high level

8,8:On the nose, the first impression we get is a very round rum with a toasted coconut, roasted wood with caramel, spice, milk chocolate and gingerbread. As we notice tropical and citrus fruits with pineapple, lemon peel. The molasses is a bit vegetal after airing the rum and some sandal wood is obvious. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is sweet, buttery and spicy with roasted wood, nuts, chocolate and toasted coconut, glue. There are tropical and dried fruits. After resting the rum, the rum is syrupy with bourbon yellow and citrus fruits. The molasses is herbal, there is some clove. Very balanced. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, woody with spices and roasted notes, creamy with caramel and milk chocolate, fruity with yellow fruits, becoming candied, banana, orange, perhaps orange peel. Shortly, balanced and delicious. Very consistent through the tasting. Edit:16.2.25, 0,1 lower due to strong glue

A fine representative of New Yarmouth 94, with very well-integrated alcohol and complex aromas. We want more! The nose is fruity, with an elegant woodiness slightly covered by acetone. It's very gourmand, with hints of almond cake. The alcohol is perfectly integrated on the palate, with brown sugar and tropical fruit. The finish is long, still with almond cake and light oak. The empty glass is splendid, with complex, homogeneous aromas. The best of this rum.

Tasted twice in sample, first time at the end of the line up and second time calmly. I remain with a mixed opinion. The positive side is its complexity and concentration, notes of coconut, chocolate, the woodiness, the slight varnish. What bothered me is its spicy side, the alcohol a bit too present and astringency in the middle of the mouth.

A lovely old jamaican that is well worth searching out and trying. well integrated, I would not have guessed that it was 67.1%! Cool bottle label as well. I'm getting some acetone notes along with caramel and fruits. Woody with a long finish

Super exciting and complex taste! Only the alcohol is quite present in the finish and could be better integrated. Long finish with alcoholic and slightly bitter notes.

Great New Yarmouth, more on the sweet side.

#5235 14.04.2025 running some samples at home while listening to some Goa Psy Trance. Nose Medium intense, wood, light roasted, fruits, light mango, light caramel, faint chocolate, pineapple. Palate Oily, warm, balanced, wood, fruits, light citrus, light nutts, berries, pineapple, faint mint. Finish Long and warm, oily, balanced, wood, roasted, berries, light tannins, light licorice, light herbs. Empty glass Herbs, light citrus, light cherry, light nutts, faint leather.

Great, nutty nose with coconut, oak, vanilla, caramel, toffee, almond and also some peanut butter. On the palate more wood and lots of spices/spiciness in the mix... also darker chocolate. Also rather alcoholic in comparison.

Another great New Yarmouth from 1994. Very intense nose of winter spices, coconut, and a slight sweetness. The alcohol in the finish at 67% is naturally present but still manageable. Really a very successful rum.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Brings everything I expect from a 94 New Yarmouth. Dark chocolate, dried medjoul dates, overripe bananas and toffee, coconut chips and great oak notes. Very round, very mild, smooth and almost drinkable despite 67%!
Review by Timo Groeger
Great New Yarmouth, it's relatively sweet, if you can even say that at 67.1% ABV :-). I mainly find caramel in the nose and taste, with vanilla, coconut, and toffee coming through as well.

One of the most beautiful bottles, really great design. Plus Corman Collins (Reputation) and NY 1994. What more could you want? Naturally very bold. Many years under Jamaica’s tropical sun result in nice spice, but hardly any oakiness. Hats off. Overall very smooth and well-balanced. Among the good 94 NYs, it stands out with plenty of milk chocolate. Top rum, but in my opinion it doesn’t quite reach the greats (Rom Deluxe, RA, Swell, and Excellence Rhum). The music for it: “Freedom Sounds” by the Skatalites.
Review by Jakob
A bit rough on the palate, which I would attribute to the high alcohol content on the one hand, and somewhat more extreme, tart spiciness on the other. Much pleasing, but in direct comparison no longer on par with the absolute top representatives of the vintage.

Classic 1994 New Yarmouth. Lots of wood, vanilla, chocolate and dried fruits like in most bottlings. The amount of spices seems a bit higher than usual. Alcohol is quite sharp, but not yet negative.
Review by Leo Krüper
Solid NY, unfortunately the finish is a bit sharp and bitter. Otherwise hardly any sweet tones. Rather dark and spicy.

20-12-2025 - Rate 8.9 Have tasted a lot of 94’ New Yarmouth with ABV above 60% This one is not like the others. More like the one from Sansibar. I’m missing some power and taste of many years matured in the tropics. Nose of coconut, dried fruit, pineapple and wood. Palate of vanilla, tropical fruits and wood. Medium finish dominated by wood and spices.
Review by Pavel Spacek
Absolutely full of taste. And even mild compared to the abv. I like it!.

1994 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - Part 1: Compared to the other 1994 NYs tasted today, I perceive more coconut and a bit less wood. However, the alcohol is a bit less well integrated.
Review by Jack M
Lovely complex rum. Whilst hot, the alcohol is well integrated and it is very smooth. The nose varies from pineapple to caramel to sandle wood to ginger. On the palate it more spice, nutty and coriander flavours. The finish is long and sweet and introduces a chocolate note.
Review by DeMaddin
First, let it rest in the glass for a while, then it opens up. Rusty, spicy, woody, the glue note runs completely through the profile. On the nose still dried, fermented fruits. On the palate then less fruit. Warm and oily in the mouth. The finish is mid-range, here the tannins come through nicely giving it a slight bitterness, I like that. The alcohol is just well integrated, slight sharpness is present. I forgive it, at over 67 vol %. It fits into the success story of the 94er NY, it’s fun and I like it.

Vintage 1994. I rate it 8.6 out of 10, excellent rum that ranks high even among my more than 1,300 ratings.

Light acetone old noble wood brown sugar astonishing attack : it tightens the mucous membranes without burning and it develops on power and brown sugar !
Review by Tendero Pablo
Magnificent representative of this profile, huge complexity and harmony. Of course, the integration is fragile at the beginning of the tasting. But then lots of citrus and even a bit pastry-like. To my taste, a marvel.
Review by Bapt
Magnificent rum, the alcohol is perfectly integrated. Powerful at first then long on the palate with coffee and tobacco.
