18.09.2025 Relaxing with a sample while watching Mr. Bean on the tv. Nose Fresh, wood, spice, light banana, nutmeg, light roasted, faint nutts. Palate Round, light oily, wood, light roasted, light dried fruit, spice, light dry, faint mineral, light cherry. Finish Medium long, light dry, light wood, spice, light orange, light nutts. Empty glass Light floral, nutts, light coffee, faint chocolate.

Tasted this elegant and round single cask from Saint James at the Sweden (Stockholm) Rumfest 2024. After distillation in 1999 it’s bottled 16 1/2 years later in 2016. The nose is woody, roasted, fruity and spicy with aromas of chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon and prune. At the palate it’s very elegant and the aromas comes back as flavors together with hints of mocha. The finish is round and long fading away gently.

Totally the opposite of the ephemeral ones, a real surprise for me. It's much rounder, way less like eau de vie and woody! Here we have chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, a slight rancio that doesn't turn into walnut juice either. The licorice is there too, a marker of a mature Saint James. Only the somewhat average length on the palate keeps me from giving it more than an 8.5.
