If anyone flies under the radar, it's this rum! An excellent blend that manages to represent both styles almost equally. Funky, woody, dark fruits and tropical fruits, all in interplay on the palate. The finish is dry and spicy, reminiscent of Clarendon and ends with roasty, chocolaty, woody prunes. The alcohol is well integrated. In my opinion, there is no better rum for connoisseurs for 60€.

A heavy blend that brings together two very different origins in a successful combination. Guyana's heaviness, its almost earthy side, tries to hold its own against a Jamaican packed with esters and fruit. The alcohol is biting. Strong and powerful. Peppery. Chocolatey, varnished finish. Super blend! Edit: not for everyone. It stings like hell! A better integration of the alcohol would make it almost perfect.

RumX Advent calendar 12.12.2023 Blind tasting: Wow, this is really hard today! Yes, cheese socks in old socks. Licorice, driest bitter notes. Hmm... :thinking: I think this is a really old, heavy DELICIOUS Demerara. :yum: I'm still wavering between PM and KFM. Only the, in my opinion, suboptimally integrated alcohol (>55%) irritates me a bit.

Powerful blend with clear influences from Guyana and Jamaica. On the nose, dark molasses, ripe banana, and spicy wood, accompanied by a hint of glue and vanilla. Dense and aromatic on the palate with sweet fruit, spice, and a slightly tart note. The alcohol is present but well integrated and adds structure. The finish is long, warm, and fruity-spicy. A characterful blend with a nice balance between depth and funk.

Palate Balanced, oily, intense, light wood, fruity, light roasted, light salty, light nutts. Finish Long and warm, light roasted wood, balanced, light oily, fruits, light prunes.

A captivating blend with lots of charm. The nose is a fine fusion of Jamaican exuberance, with ripe exotic fruit and phenolic notes, and Guyana's elegance, with dark notes of dark chocolate, leather, chilli and toasted barrel. Intense, greedy and terribly appealing. The attack on the palate is lively, with particularly powerful spices. Dark chocolate, leather and roasted notes are the hallmarks of the Demerara profile. Tropical fruits and esters are also present, harmoniously incorporated into Guyana's rather dark profile. However, the integration of alcohol is not very successful; it is even rather violent, and a reduction would have been welcome. The finish is long, with a dark, chocolatey, woody, smoky and spicy texture. Tropical fruits are present, but esters give way to bitterness and tannins. There's a hint of burnt sugar that adds a touch of greediness. A bottle in a class of its own, with an eye-catching profile and, above all, excellent value for money.

Here is a beautiful blend from Jamaica and Guyana. The nose has notes from both countries. Ester, chocolate but also leather are quite recognizable. On the palate there is also some ester, the rum tastes very dark (chocolate). Also some honey.

Surprisingly good and complex Guyana (Diamond) and Jamaica (Hampden, Monymusk, Worthy Park) blend. The subtle wood barrel notes also suggest a certain degree of maturation. For EUR 50, there is a very high value for money here - hence, exceptionally, a price/performance rating. Unfortunately, such 'pearls' are becoming increasingly rare.

Got this as a blind sample. Guessed a low-ester Hampden. Couldn't make the mental leap to Guyana.😀😀😀 On the nose light esters, pineapple, caramel, spice and licorice. Phew. In the mouth it is already very strong.💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Spicy finish. An interesting combination with a slightly masochistic character.😀😀😀 Thanks to Bonn!

A Guyana-Jamaica blend that definitely has a good dose of Guyana, I would say Jamaica is rather subdued. That works positively for me because the fruit notes play a supporting role and not an "in-your-face" one. The Guyana portion shows many roasted aromas, malt and chocolate. Great rum at a fair price!

Interesting blend with good price-performance ratio. Nice to have tried the Mal. But somehow I lack the feeling that I should try more of it. A slightly lower ABV would probably have done well here. Nice that the somewhat heavy part from Guyana shines through.

Once again Twelve delights me! I love their blends and their work with wood. Here we have a mix of Guyana and Jamaica with the best of both worlds: fruits, esters, as well as spices, caramel, and dark chocolate. A treat at a great price!

Lots of caramel, burnt sugar, wood, coffee, dark chocolate. However, the bitter burnt sugar note masks a lot. Guyana clearly predominates in the blend, but there are also occasional fruity Jamaican notes on the palate. The blend could be much better balanced, but it's still good for the price.

On the nose, there's nicely roasted dark chocolate and funk. On the palate, the 60% ABV is quite noticeable. Also quite roasted here, and the Jamaican funk persists. Personally, I expected a bit more. The finish then becomes very bold, dark-roasty with slight tannins.

#24DaysOfRum2023 - Day 12 A blend of 4 distilleries is sure to excite the senses. Lets see where this goes. Opens up nicely and vividly with WP indicators such as banana bread, sweet espresso and over-milked cereal. It’s expressively fruity and creamy with a clear and present backbone of darker sugars, balsamic and sandal wood. After a while it leads into more musty, flowery territory. Think fresh gardening peat and potted flowers. One or two cloves. And just when you think they simply forgot Hampden during blending; there it is. Fruity acids from pineapple juice, lemon juice and berrymix at the base of the aroma. Less flowery and more roasted on the palate. The same fruity blend leading the way into heavier flavours. Where the deeper, warmer aromas of balsamic, clove, espresso and phenol are much more present. Further elaborated in the throat with black tea and cigar smoke (of the sweeter kind). The finish is fittingly sweet and dark. Crème brulee and Pepsi cola on the side, followed by more smoke. It leaves the mouth dry, as it’s just a tad too sugary (for my liking). An excellently integrated blend that’s exceptionally complex given time, and an outstanding example of the power of masterful blending.

Tasting at the rum festival, so incomplete... From the nose you know this juice is of great quality, very aromatic. You can feel the warmth in the mouth with a pastry side enhanced by light solvents and spices. A complex rum to discover under better conditions. A slight reduction does it good.

RumX calendar day 12 Interesting blend that doesn't work at all with its sulfur/cheese note on the nose. It gets better on the palate, with Guyana clearly dominating with a hint of fermented Jamaican fruit in the background.

It's a good rum with a good taste. What bothers me a bit is that the warmth takes over a large part of the flavor or even covers it up. All in all decent, but not a revelation that stays in memory.

A very good blend! I don't usually say that, but I think a slight reduction to 60% would have been beneficial as it is very powerful at the start. For a rum of this type, maybe it needed a bit more finesse. Nevertheless, it's very good!

Calendar #12 / blind Quite spicy but somehow it can't be pinpointed to one specific spice. In doubt, baking spices. Roasted aromas and caramel, yet the drop is somehow fresh and mineral. A very exciting nose for sure. The alcohol is very well integrated in the nose, a bit more present on the palate. Besides lots of licorice (the strong kind with more salmiak), black pepper, roasted aromas and dark chocolate. The bitter notes are cocoa and salmiak and a bit of wood, but somehow it all works well together. In the finish again salmiak, cocoa beans and dark beer. Not light, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's from Guyana. About 55% and certainly tropical 12 years.

Good blend from Jamaica and Guyana. On the palate I mainly have Worthy Park and Clarendon, maybe also Port Mourant and Diamond. Finish has a bit little complexity, somewhat flat, slightly alcoholic finish.

On the nose it smells like a creamy Jamaica! Beautiful promises. As if solvent had been poured on a stone with which exotic fruits had been stewed (imagine that image). In any case, it makes you want it. Mouth: "Oh damn it's good! Oh I need one (bottle)" of freshly spiced pineapple in a very balanced blend. The price-performance ratio is terrible. The marriage of the 2 origins is very well mastered and it's as gourmand as you want! The finish is fresh, mentholated with a background of exotic fruits.

RumX Advent calendar 12.12.23: Hm, extremely difficult. On the nose the rum seems very ripe, but there is also a very clear off-note (for me) reminiscent of old cheese or old socks. On the palate this note is much less present, dominated by wood, caramel and bitter notes. The profile seems vaguely familiar but I can't pinpoint it 100%. Intensity and alcohol integration are ok.
