Twenty-one years in the cask adds oak, spice and a dry, faintly bitter edge. The nose gets the most love; a few feel the palate loses some fruit and the wood takes over.

Wonderfully fruity and full of esters! Strong Hampden... my highlight of the fair in Nuremberg. It will be a bomb in the Mai Tai. Test completed in the Mai Tai... 100% recommendation. Fruit and woodiness come into their own 😀

Nose is clearly driven by notes from the cask with less intense fruit and ester notes. More complex less funky so to say. On the palate again very mature. Bringing some herbal notes to the table alongside fruits and notes from the cask.

Really a great bottling 😎 A fruity ester bomb with well integrated alcohol and barrel. A perfect dram to enjoy with your best friends🥃 The finish is quite long, dry, astringend (typical for the HE contingent) with lovely ester, fruits… just excellent!

84 points. A continental <>H that seems to hold back a little in its aroma. Even on the palate the flavours only shone trough when I took my second sip. Aromas and taste stay within the classic HD boundaries, a good <>H, but I wouldn’t chase down a bottle.

Ein schöner HD 2001, aber für mich nicht auf dem Niveau der besten HD 2001. Beispielsweise ist der 18 jährige TRC HD 2001 (RX 771) deutlich besser in meinen Augen. Hauch von Bitterkeit stört mich ein wenig. Preislich mit 169€ für 0,5 Liter leider auch zu teuer. Dennoch gute 86/100

I'm very glad to have snagged a bottle at the fair. A little highlight. Gentle and unobtrusive but very tasty. Addendum: On the palate this time I perceive herbal notes. Also, the bottling seems a bit woodier to me. Still good, but not outstanding.

The nose, that's it... Pleasantly fruity, soft, with a hint of wine gum, marzipan, and cookies. On the palate, it loses a lot... hardly any fruit to perceive, spices and wood dominate. A slight bitterness of black tea joins in. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is also of spice, wood, and bitterness. It is very good but still far from top class.

Great continental Hampden that brings the optimal drinking strength and ester content for me. Unfortunately too expensive, but you will have to get used to that. The cheap Hampden times are long gone. In the 2nd tasting against the Plantation Addict No. 2. Still excellent if quite different. Great rum.

#5485 13.07.2025 Second set with the guys after a wonderful dinner at a local Italian restaurant. Nose Medium intense, ester, fruity, overripe, light wood, light roasted, light mango, light polish. Palate Oily, medium intense, naturally sweet, light wood, ester, fruity, overripe, pineapple, faint floral, light cinnamon. Finish Long and warm, naturally sweet, light wood, light cherry, light vegetal, faint coffee. Empty glass Vanilla, light chocolate, light cherry, light citrus, faint polish. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up and release all its yummyness.

Delicious Hampden! As I know it from some <>H, this also has a slightly green note that reminds me somewhat of plant stems. Otherwise very buttery and creamy, with pronounced notes of brioche and cookie dough. I personally like these aromatics a lot, and here they remind me strongly of some 2009 NYs. Nice bottling for the anniversary of TRC, although in my eyes priced a bit too high.

Last sample for today, would say the best. Once again a top Hampden. Not as ester-heavy as many others, but you still feel the ester. Otherwise tropical fruits and wood come in. Delicious.

Ein Hampden wie ich sie liebe - viel tropische Früchte, Ester und genau die richtigen Portionen Holz und Gewürze von Nase bis Abgang. Ergänzt durch Keks/ Keksteig wirkt dieser Rum extrem cremig. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden! Ganz ganz toller Rum!

Hampden without a doubt. Pineapple, esters, funky as hell. Good. But no big surprise. Strong and astringent. You find the usual Hampden markers, especially very ripe fruits. Superb length.

Nice continental Hampden that is not too heavy on the esters. But nice complexity that ticks all the Hampden boxes and leaves enough room to explore. Tried at Whisky Fair and decided to get a bottle, will try again after some distance. //update: saulecker, Frucht & Holz in Harmonie

Compared to RX16246 and RX14181 The Rumcask is the most delicate in the nose. The taste is excellent, well rounded and refined with a nice influence from the wood. It’s the first glass that’s empty (that’s a good indicator in my case 😁)

Nice complex Hampden with the typical notes of fruits and esters. Time has smoothed the edges and corners, the rum comes across settled. Alcohol is well integrated, the rum is slightly astringent. Above all the nose invites to extensive nosing.

Small tasting of the same Hampden Marks but of different ages. Overall, the older one is naturally much more complex and better balanced. However, basically very similar. Good esters, vanilla, wood and a bit of tropical fruit. Also not too much fruit here, which I don't like that much.

Overall a nice Hampden but it lacks something special or even an edge. In addition the nose is a bit too sour for my liking. I like the finish the most, it’s warm and funky with fruits of all kind, subtle wood, some vanilla and other spices.

Ein weiterer 2001er Hampden von The Rum Cask. Sehr schöne ausgeprägte tropische Fruchtnoten, etwas Holz, ganz minimal rauchige Noten und Marzipan. Angenehme Süße, bei relativ wenig Säure. Gut ausbalanciert und mit gut integriertem Alkohol.

Pale gold Odor: Fruity funky esters. Tropical fruits. Intense. Taste Sweet and fruity in the mouth, then spicy. On the swallow much spicier and less fruity, Balanced, tasty, round and powerful. After 21 years, the barrel influence is unmistakable. Finish Long Spicy and woody, licorice, dry. Remains pleasant.

Un nez fruité, ananas, funky, des esters, un côte beurre et pâtisserie. En bouche, des fruits, des épices, suivi d'une amertume plaisante qui vient équilibrer les esters. J'ai une sorte de pomme poire qui est passé aussi a un moment. La finale est relativement longue, sur le reste de l'amertume, des tanins et du chêne. On sent encore les fruits mûrs. Goûté avec un échantillon, très sympa! J'ai bien aimé cette amertume sauvage au milieu de la bouche!

Incredibly delicate! Intense complex nose full of a basket of overripe fruit, glue and esters as you can expect from <>H. But surprisingly on the palate I find pleasant buttery biscuit notes, then comes a fruit bomb in a very delicate and cult coat.
