Extremely cool fullproof black barrel! Very round and harmonious, does really well in corn'n'oil! But ended up in my Falernum production, nevertheless a great rum from Barbados that is unfortunately only available locally.

#4167 I have been through quite a few Mount Gays and the top releases are usually pretty good. So is this one. Fruity with roasted wood and a warm and lightly dry palate. Good balance between the flavours and ABV.

Great, well-balanced Mount Gay, I have rarely had this in a glass. Very chocolaty and coconutty, with everything you could wish for: wood, vanilla, caramel, spices. More of this from MG, please. Only criticism: could be more intense, a little thin on the nose for the percentages. A big thank you to Henry :-)

The rum needs some time in the glass. Then it has a lovely moisture of dried fruit and orange peel on the nose. It also has a honey sweetness and slight hints of clove. Unmistakably Mount Gay. Woody in the mouth with roasted nuts. Some caramel and banana bread that is too dry. The charred bourbon barrel comes through a little too much for me. In combination, there is an interesting, almost salty note. The finish is then much more pleasing again.

Fruity, roasted nose, a lovely chocolatey note with a hint of caramel in the mouth. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish was medium long, mild for the alcohol strength and dark chocolate remains. So Mount Gay can do better after all ;)

Superb version of the Black Barrel in brut de futs. Glad I could get my hands on a distillery-exclusive keel!

Klassisches Mount Gay Profil an Nase und Gaumen, sehr trocken und würzig. Guter Barbados Rum ohne besondere Überraschungen.

Always liked the classic Barbados Mount Gay, and this one takes it another step in the right direction being bottled at cask strength. Coconut and honey on the nose. Deep, dark roasted coffee and chocolate on the palette with some ripe banana and a long beautiful dry finish.

Cask Strength Mount Gay is something I’ve been eager to try for quite some time, but up until now I’ve yet to have access to. Thanks to a family friend’s recent trip to the distillery, I’m finally able to change that—and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Its exactly what I’d hope to see from MG and bajan rum; strong notes of coconut, caramel, and dried fruit, before the cask influence brings out charred oak and baking spices. It’s rather woody and dry (without being too aggressive tannic), and sips well below its hefty 66% abv. There’s a lot to love here, and I really hope it becomes more available internationally in the near future.

A pretty gay Mount. Nothing shows the 66% on the nose. The profile is fairly classic: dark chocolate, coconut, dried fruit, slightly spicy. On the palate, it's remarkably well-integrated, with a hint of morello cherry on the finish. That's the only little thing I'd criticize about this Mg: the lack of fruitiness. The finish is pleasant, full-bodied and correct in length. Not bad!

Toller Rum!

One of my go to bottles for value and easy pleasing. Not too complex, but accessible and good for friends who dont want to be too challenged
